Had a pitcher in 10U league have 3 balls called on her in 8 seconds. Here's how it happened:

Batter enters the batters box

catcher sets

PU gives the OK sign

Pitcher is on the rubber and tosses the ball in the air to herself 3 times while taking deep breathes.

Delivers her first pitch Ball 4.

PU said that the motion of tossing the ball in the air while on the rubber with the batter in place is equivilent to a pitch any comments?

That is impossible under the rules.

An IP is a delayed dead ball. You cant sit and do 3 immediately in a row because after the first one.. umpire must call the dead ball and announce the IP and make the awards.

This was downright lame of the umpire in ANY case, if it was even an umpire (as opposed to some schmuck sitting behind the catcher pretending).

The ball must remain in her hand or glove when she is on the rubber.

One IP .. not 3.
