In your catcher example, I would tend to agree with you.
But, in the context of the OP and as a generalization, I stand behind what I wrote.
If you disagree, please cite a rule that supports your position.

Show me a rule that says a batter cannot pull the bat back from a bunt attempt. Further, in FED the batter is required to pull the bat back if the pitch is out of the zone and they dont want to have a strike called.

Rule supplement 36 states the batter is entitled to the "entire" batters box. Until the pitch passes the batter it belongs to them and the catcher should not be in the area where the bat would normally be.
