Why is 2nd umpire being asked to leave field?

No does not get paid for both. Maybe plate was the UIC and he was mad at the field umpire for arriving so late and therefore did not want to pay him a full game fee for only partially umpiring a game.

Since umpires showing up an hour into the game or being asked to leave the field aren't standard operating procedures covered in any rule book or umpire manual, any guess at what was going on here would be just that...a guess. In other words...beats me!
