Appeals

Nobody's saying you are dense. A lot of folks have been corrected on this before, including yours truly.

FORCE OUT: An out which may be made only when a runner(1) loses the right to the base that the runner is occupying(2) because the batter becomes a batter-runner, and before the batter-runner or a trailing runner has been put out.(3.)

This has been parsed by the experts in multiple ways including, but probably not limited to:
1.) "runner" - only runners can be forced out. Batters and Batter-Runners are separate and distinct entities
2.) "occupying" - the batter never "occupies" home plate
3.) "before BR has been put out" - how can BR be put out before BR has been put out? (X-Files re-runs don't count)

How many runs score?

A) 3

B) 2

C) 0

D) Definitely 2 in an ASA game. The appeal at second would be the third out. Any subsequent appeal would be a "fourth out appeal". ASA only allows fourth out appeals against a runner who has scored.

But, as far as I know, ASA is unique in that intrepretation. Other rule sets allow fourth out appeals against any runner, at any base, whether they have scored or not. So, if it was, say, an NFHS/high school game, is the appeal at first not allowed because the runner had already been appealed out at second (2 runs score), or is the appeal at first allowed because multiple appeals can be made against the same runner and the appeal at first base supercedes the one at second (no runs score)?

What many people forget is that the runner isn't forced "TO" a base, but "FROM" a base.
