Fair or Foul

Ball hit towards third base strikes edge of base facing home plate pops up and lands a few feet foul about 10 ft behind third base. (not touched by fielder until lands in foul territory.

IMU that whether or not this ball is fair depends on where it crosses the foul line. if it crossed the foul line after passing the back edge(furthest from home plate) of 3B then it is a fair ball, if it crosses the foul line before it crosses the back edge of 3B it's foul.

I have a friend who insists it's fair ball either way.

1st and 3rd bases are entirely inside fair territory. A batted ball that strikes either bag is a fair ball regardless of where it lands or is first touched.

Just in case you want a second (or third) opinion...fair ball!

But it's not just an opinion...by rule, a batted ball that touches first, second or third base is immediately fair, no matter where it goes after that.

Thanks guys, got the rule citation in a PM as well. Funny thing is I looked it up and read the rule but got so hung up on Fair Ball Definition B (ASA) that I never made it to E.
