This is the extent of my knowledge:
• DP - plays defense
• Flex - bats for DP
• Have to indicate DP and Flex player on official line up given to umpire
Some starter questions to get the conversations going:
○ Can the Flex swap with any girl on defense at any given time? If so, what are the limitations/allowances?
○ Defensive swap vs. Substitution?
○ Can Flex pinch run? Limitations?
Thanks!
Forget everything you know ...
1.) DP is listed in any of the first 9 positions on the line up card and bats for the FLEX
2.) FLEX is listed in the 10th position on the line up card and plays defense for the DP
3.) If the FLEX bats for the DP, the DP has left the game
4.) If the DP plays defense for the FLEX, then the FLEX has left the game - However, the DP can play defense for any of the other players on the field as long as they continue to bat ... Because both the FLEX and the DP may play defense at the same time, but can't play offense at the same time.
5.) The FLEX can run for only the DP, and the DP has left the game.
* Any time the DP has stopped playing offense or the FLEX has stopped playing defense, they have left the game ... Normal re entry rules apply.
