Funny play

ASA rules, R1 on 2nd, Batter has a 1-1 count, next pitch batter swings and misses the ball, the ball hits the F2's glove and bouncing up, batters bat hits the ball from her finishing of her original swing and ball rolls into fair territory. R1 goes to 3rd. What's the call?

The funny part was that the plate ump didn't see the bat hit the ball on the backswing. He wagered a bet of $100 with us spectators that it didn't hit the bat. But what he didn't know was that we got it on tape.

Long story short he didn't pay up. Never bet with an umpire.

During a HS tournament this weekend, I almost did just that. R1 on 2nd, R2 on 1st, 2 outs. Batter lines a single into center field. R1 comes in and scores and R2 is thrown out at 3rd a split second later. Unfortunately, PU is half way up the line with his back turned to the play and can't see if R1 scored before the out was made. He rules that the run does not count. It was acually a pretty funny sight because both umps were right on top of the play at 3rd and I think both of them rung up the 3rd out. I was about to offer up the instant replay, which showed the play perfectly, but then I overheard PU saying, "Well, I guess I missed that one. I'm only human." There was no need to rub his nose in it.
