Hit by pitch outside of box

Rule question? Get it answered here.

I would really appreciate clarification on ASA rules.

A left handed batter going through batters box and without swinging, gets hit by pitch while both feet are out of the box and on the infield. What is the call? Dead ball? Base given? Ball, Dead ball strike?

Please advise and if you can, post the rule and page.

Any time a batter is hit by a pitched ball, the ball is dead.

If the ball was in the strike zone when it hit the batter, it's a strike.
If the ball was not in the strike zone and the batter attempted to avoid the ball, award first base.
If the ball was not in the strike zone and the batter did not attempt to avoid the ball, it's a ball on the batter and the at bat continues. If ball 4, award first base.

The ASA rule is 8-1-F on age 84 of of the 2013 book.

It is hard to tell if a strike when she is on the field getting hit with ball. The ball didnt have time to curve or drop.

Got hit right in the stomach. hmmmmmmmmm?

If she was directly in front of the box, do you really think the pitch is going to break over a foot in the last 10' of travel? For that matter most lefty slappers have a tendency to fade toward 1st as they come out the front of the box, that would put the batter even further away from the strike zone.

The ball is always curving/dropping.

Could be a strike if the actions of the batter prevented the pitch from entering the strike zone.
A constitution of government, once changed from freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever.
