She is out for 2 reasons. Leaving prior to the release of the pitch and violation of the circle rule (aka LBR).

Now if she steps out of the circle, which I have seen many pitchers do on the 2B side, then the LBR is off."



I will include also that if F1 attempts any play on the runner, the LBR is no longer in effect.

I read responses to the "20 second rule." There is a general consensus (and it was listed) that the time begins when the pitcher receives the ball in the circle.

Really? Which rule book did that come from? NCAA? NFHS? ASA? USSSA? I umpire under all these codes and "in the circle" is not even part of the picture/rule.

So I was wondering where the responders got their information. Specifically, which rule book?

Congrats - good catch.

Consensus? Most of the responses were for a follow-up question involving LBR, where the circle is involved.
