Illegal Pitch

Rule question? Get it answered here.

Once an illegal pitch has been called, the ball is still live and can be swung at.
Is there any negatives to the Offense swinging at/hitting an illegal pitch?
If runner or batter/runner interfers with pitch or hit ball does the offense still have choice of illegal pitch or at bat.

It is an extremely small percentage of cases where swinging at the pitch could result in a less favorable result. The minimum result to the offense is the enforcement of the illegal pitch UNLESS ALL of the following occurs:

1) Batter reaches first base safely, AND
2) all runners advance at least one base safely, AND
3) one of the offensive players makes a running blunder after all have advanced at least one base.

Conversely, the best possible result for the defense is (in the inversely vast percentage) is the enforcement of the illegal pitch. If at all possible, the pitcher should NOT continue to deliver the pitch once it is called illegal.

so R1 on 1B, illegal pitch, BR hits single to RF R1 is out at 3B.
Is illegal pitch off at this point since R1 and BR each made 1 base safely?

Last scenario, R1 on 1B, hears illegal pitch call steals 2B. throw goes into CF, R1 goes to 3B and is thrown out.
R1 advanced 1 base safely but batter took the pitch. is Illegal pitch still in effect.
Does it matter if the pitch was a ball or strike?

The offensive coach has the option of the result of the play, or the penalty for the illegal pitch. Since the runner was thrown out at 3rd it would not be in their best interest to take the result of the play, so more than likely they would take the illegal pitch penalty, a ball on the batter, and runner advances 1 base, or would be put on 2nd in this particular play.

If the runner had been safe at 3rd, the coach could then take the result of the play, the illegal pitch would be nullified and the pitch would be either a ball or strike on the batter depending on its location, if batter swung at it etc.
