Let's try this again, You said that Quicksilver wasn't very good and the A's were good. I said that Quicksilver must not be to bad because they beat the A's a couple weeks ago. Even if they only beat the A's in a freindly they still must have a little talent to beat the A's. So what is the deal do you think that Quicksilver sucks and they just got very lucky to beat the A's?

I think its pretty cool some of these teams can step up and beat the big dogs. Heck, QS95 wasnt even at ASA 12U states last year (Memorial Day QS tourney w/Lil rebels, Corona Eliminators 95, etc) so for them to come up big 1 year later is awesome and they MUST have some talent. Same for Cerritos Franchise. Last year CF ran alot of friendlies, started up the mothers day tourney and prep'd for the future. Both Org's look like its paying off.

Will they be able to beat the top 3 teams, back to back to back? I doubt it, but it shows the programs are doing the right things, growing and they are teams to watch in the future. Kudos to the players, coaches & families of those teams.

Finally something positve! whats the deal softballdad..why so negative?? There are 4-5 teams that consistantly stand out, and then basically the rest who all work just as hard. Maybe they do not have the depth of talent needed to win major tournements, but no reason the be such a downer about it. Geez, does number 6-10th really matter?? I guess it makes some people feel better to slam other teams with comments like "LOL'' after their name, etc... I only hope the girls don't take this attitude toward the teams they play!!

What I have noticed the last month or so is many teams we played in the fall and played again recently have really improved.
Alot of the teams have now been together for 6 months or more, so improvement is inevitable IF they have a good system, can keep their core of players, and the families believe in and support the coaching staff. Wicked, Franchise, Quiksilver, Stingers, Riptide (sorry if I am leaving teams out) and others are putting in the work and showing the results. Isn't that the goal of most teams?

One thing I notice that tells me if a team can be successful is if they are consistantly able to get the lead runner when possible. That tells me those teams are working on defensive situations in practice, which in my opinion is very important in being a successful team.
The teams that don't work on that part of their game are the ones that only get outs at 1st, can't field a bunt, let the back runner get to 2nd unchallenged on 1st & 3rd situations, etc...

The top teams will be the ones with depth in pitching, defense. offense and the experience of players who can execute plays in the big games. Teams with one dominant pitcher will have a difficult time at this level of 12U as we saw in Fresno. Defense wins games and makes the pitchers look great. There is no dominant pitcher this year but many good pitchers. With this said, I see O.C Impact, Corona, and AA's and maybe Anderson to do well with a good balanced team.

She pitched 8-0 shutout against the dirt dogs.

She pitched 8 innings vs impact, 7 shut out innings

pitched 6-0 shutout against grapettes( suppose to be Nor Cals best)

In the quarterfinal, She came in to relieve their other great pitcher with two on no outs vs franchise and got them out of it.

She pitched 5 shutout innings against OC Impact in semis, after already pitching 2 1/2 games

I was told on Saturday that she had hurt her ankle and was limping but the truth was she had 2 huge blisters on both heels due to new shoes she wore to school.

There is no dominant pitcher this year but many good pitchers.

So what exactly do you have to do--and against whom--to qualify as a dominant pitcher?

The Impact pitcher beat her twice this weekend. That could be called dominant but again, they are both very good pitchers as are several others. Much depends on the defense and their team executing at the right time.

for those that were there, i think you would agree both games between these two teams last weekend were very tight games, and came down to one or two plays, as they always do when these two teams play each other. congrats to impact for getting it done at the end.
both pitchers kept their teams in the games, with little or no walks and great location, AND defense. 2 games, 30 half innings, and runs were scored in only 3 of those half innings, and two of those were in itb.
I might be mistaken, but i can't remember any bombs hit for either side in either game.
it is the same when corona, aa's, impact, and anderson play each other, it almost always comes down to a couple plays that determines the outcomes...

My bad. I was under the impression that OC Impact was a fantastic team that has pretty much been spanking the living crap out of anything put in front of them. 12 shut-out innings in two games against them (in addition to shutting out every other team she faced) probably isn't anything special after all.
