No, there was a 12 step (I'm working from memory here) eligibility process working first with 18U teams on getting in and finally 16U teams as a last resort if the tournament didn't fill up. 14s wasn't on the qualification sheet.

We played 16U till January, so we didn't even attempt to get in. We're Staying 18A in 2009 which is where we belong.

Funny, but I'm still seeing postings on eTeamz of 18s team advertising themselves as Gold that aren't in the classification hunt (I'm not talking about teams already crowned as Gold).

There was a process that is described above with the intent that the field would be limited to 84 teams. Since only 60 teams signed up I believe that any age level team could have signed up - after all, it's an extra $350 per team for ASA!
