UPDATED! 12u Top Team Ranking – Pre ASA Nationals Poll!

by bracketologist » Tue May 26, 2009 8:30 am

May 18th 12u Coaches Poll Top 40 - updated with information after ASA So Cal State results.

Now a berth earned to ASA 12u Nationals is indicated by a Mr. Green face. Also updated on page 1 are the top 8 records against each other based on the ASA state results. I believe Irvine Sting (finished #4th) is a contender to win ASA 12u Nationals – so if anyone knows their fall and spring tournament record vs. the other top 8 teams, I will add it to the front page.

It was a great weekend of softball. Congratulations to PowerSurge – 2009 ASA So Cal Champs and OC Batbuster Marquez 2nd place and Corona Angels Knighten 3rd place (with 4 back to back wins in the losers bracket)

Note all 12 berths to ASA Nationals were to ranked teams in the HeyBucket 12u Poll. I also want to spotlight American Pastime & Valley Breeze as the only non-ranked teams that played on Monday!

Congratulations to Corona Angels Lockman on their TCS tourney win. A double elimination tournament that was actually played out!

Will the Wildcats be able to go to ASA Nationals next year?

No they won't, but I heard they have some parents on the team who are lawyers and are taking this issue to court because this "rule" supposedly isn't in the rule book.

I am the Manager for the OC Wildcats 97. We are NOT being banned from Nationals or Championship play this year or next. We are also NOT taking anyone to court over this issue.

Without getting into a full re-hash of what occurred, needless to say it was a VERY difficult decision that I had to make in a short time frame. I understand that some people may disagree with my decision for various reasons. I respect those opinions. However, those individuals should be aware that they may not have all of the facts upon which my decision was based. I did what I felt was best for all of the players and families on our team. I was fully aware of the consequences of my actions after we became qualified and take responsibility for what occurred. This will NOT have any effect on the 97 Wildcat team or Wildcat organization.

How did Valley Tribe earn a berth to ASA Nationals?

Second, did the Firecrackers walk away with a berth from ASA HOF OKC (i.e., they did not finish in the top 8 - but a number of teams ahead of them already had berths)?
