I don't know what league you play used to play on. but, your assessment of Rec teams all-stars, about having 5-6 girls being the coaches kids and the rest are board members kids looking for a favor is completly false. I know as travel coaches there are some great ones and some bad ones . the same goes for Rec Teams. but, you stating that there are no talent in the rec programs . then you have not see ASA Nationals for Rec. I been there and the quality is great. I bet most were not all board member kids or just kids with no talent. Travel ball is great also, I have seen great talent and I back it %100. but, You can't seriosuly think at national level does rec all-star teams can't compete travelball teams. I seen a lot trvael teams and let me tell you they are as bad as some regular season rec teams. Yes, there a lot elite teams out there that they are great. but, for the rest of them there if no significant difference. I think I'll move this post . does not seem to be the right place under this heading. My daughter played travel ball up in oregon and had a great expirience. now I coach Recball and help out in Travelball too. So, I do see quality in both. Just because you play rec does not mean that you are not better than a travelball player. thank you for your responds and time.

How did your rec all-star team do this weekend? Oh, they don't start up again until May. Silly travel ball teams playing 11 months out of the year just to keep up with those rec all-star teams.

LOL nice way of putting things into perspective. Over the years I've seen hot shot rec all-star teams come into their first travel ball tournaments and go 0-5. It takes at least 6 months to get up to the level of travel.

Update and back to the original post - I am happy to report that the team received full refund of amounts previously paid.

No one cares anymore. All attention is on maybe the most assinine quote every to grace this board.

I am glad someone said it, that quote has had me thinking since it was posted that maybe having both of my girls in travel was the WRONG thing to do.....I mean with playing out of town every weekend, money on gas, money on dues, money for registration, HIGHLY competitive ball every weekend.....Who knew they should have just stayed in rec. and played your one weekday game and your one game on Saturday and everyone gets the same amount of playing time and cupcakes after the game......

Just got off the phone with my buddy who's daughter is still in Rec. He just left the board meeting for the 2009 team manager interviews. While in the waiting room, the jostling for "Gold" all star manager has ALREADY begun, and the arguing about who makes the team next summer is in FULL swing!!! HAHHAHA, GOD how I DONT miss that!!! HAHAHA

I was on a rec board for years and it was a joke. The president of the league would cringe every time I showed up for a meeting. When it came to all stars his followers voted his way, his DD was horrible and a huge distraction and made all stars every year. The boys had great uniforms and the girls had hand me downs. The presidents buddy owned a sporting goods store and was the uniform equipment manager for the league. We found unis for 40% less but they would not buy them from anyone else. The money spent on equipment every year was amazing. How about 2 brand new sets of catchers gear for tee ball every year. I could go on and on and on

I was on the board for 5 long years (doing my time for the girls). It would amaze me what some coaches would do to get their daughters on the all-star team. For example, not nominate a player on his team that was better than his own daughter, eliminating the chance of his not being picked. The back door deals, you vote mine, I vote yours. There always were 3-5 girls that did not belong. And rec leagues wonder why the good players leave for travel ball.
