Baserunning times in softball

What is considered a quick time from home to 1st and then around the bases? Looking for the average times and what is considered quick. Thanks, in advance.

In my opinion: Home - 1st
2.95-3.2 Average speed
2.80-2.94 Above average speed
Under 2.79 should get some eyeballs lookin at you
(of course how your timed is another discussion)
Home to Home
12.60-13.1 Average speed
12.0- 12.59 Above average speed
11.99 below your movin pretty good.

for 12u watchtonsofsoftball is right on. at 14s they drop a bit and then again at 16s.

Last week at a 16u tryout my dd was helping with there was what I call a "ghost" who ran from home to 1st in 2.39 and around the bases 11.08. Fastest kid to first I have ever seen.

again how there timed is always up for debate. A 2.39 will get you a D1 scholarship if nothing else as a pinch runner :D
The fastest I have seen is 2.58, I cant imagine faster and she is going to a big time D1 school. My times should hold up through 18s. If you are running under a 2.79 ( usually taken on first movement to first or first step after swing depending on who is clocking it) you are blazing fast. Most kids lose time Home to Home due to not cutting the bases correctly etc, especially at younger ages . My did runs a 2.8ish consistantly but a 12.3-12.5 Home to Home. I personally think she sucks at cutting the bases but whatever. I'd like to see her 11.9-12.1.

I wasn't the one holding the stopwatch, and like it was already stated, it greatly depends on when they start the clock. I believe for this tryout the timer was started as they took their first step out of the box.

many variables ... the coach holding the stopwatch and the field conditions just for starters. If you have a player that you know is fast, I'd just compare the times to hers. Just anticipating the start can make a .3 difference with a player that is use to being timed. Remember Jerry Rice ran the 40 in only 4.8...until the game started then he became one of the fastest players in the NFL. 8-) 8-)

that makes a big difference , but she's still super/duper fast.

let's just put it this way. I hope the 2.39 ghost doesn't play against my dd team. She will be tough out.

I thought my dd was fast but 2.39 is stupid fast.
