I believe State is in late May/early June. Don't know the exact dates yet.

the past few years (off memory) So Cal ASA 10U & 12U states has been played Memorial Day weekend. with 14U being 1-2 weeks later.

From my past experience I remember that 14U states always fell in mid-June and it invaribly conflicted with 8th grade graduation. You'll hear the complaints from the first year 14U teams!

i also think you find some of your kids also have school finals on the friday of 14U states, and a possible same friday 5PM game. Getting from just about anywhere in the outer ASA So Cal bounderies to the deep inland(menifee/hemet) on a friday afternoon complicates things. We want them to get good grades and be at the park. Makes it tough on everyone and definitely an intangible for some teams/families/girls to get through.

Yes so true. We went through that at last years 14u having a game at 4:00pm and several girls having finals. We ended up playing with 8 girls and having an automatic out when the 9th batter came up. Maybe.....ASA can figure out someting...like not scheduling until schools out...i know that might be to hard for them to realize that.. :o

The Yellow Book also answers all the questions about coaches, background checks and ACE certifications:

1. A manager, coach or team parent (team staff) that enters the field of play or dugout shall be
individually registered and background checked through the SoCal ASA mandatory
registration system. They must have a SoCal ASA authorized identification card visible on
their person at all times.

2. The manager and at least one additional adult team staff member of a team participating in
championship play shall be ACE Certified and have proof of doing so on their person. ACE
certification, which must be accomplished prior to the start of championship play, is available
online through the ASA National Office Web site.
