Illinois ASA State Tournaments

The games have begun--very interesting so far. The splits in the A/B pools in 10s have been interesting so far. Concept was a good idea, but the split is a little off in brackets. 9 Team B and 27 team A? Hmmmmm!

That distribution is good. More teams should be in A. If you go by ASA rules, it's rec All-Star and/or only those coming from 1 league should compromise a "B" team. Most B teams come nothing close to that description.

Already heard though the 12u Conxion team throwing a game to get into B. Too bad for their girls if true. Nothing like teaching them at a young age.

Galesburg 12u team gets the short end of the stick due to a team dropping out, get an auto win, and they get stuck in A. That is a team that should be B.

Thought it was a good format but..... There was 6 area quad city teams entered, 9 pools of 4 and in 3 pools were 2 qc area teams why not spread them out. Also the 2 top teams from quad city playing each other in second round (sounds set up), doesnt seem that was quite right either. Here is how the games went

teams games played by day!!
Thurs Fri Sat Sun
Mattoon 2 0 3 2 1st
Heartland 0 4 3 5 2nd
QC Firebirds 0 4 2 2 3rd

Congrats to Mattoon, they do have a great team!!! but shame on Illinois ASA for setting up such lousy brackets
