Been to both and have to say is NSA better organized...from the website to how the tournament is ran. Much is easier to navigate the NSA website then the ASA one.

both have good and not so good umps, but by saying that. i gotta say that to erreor is human. honestly can say though,i seen some pretty ugly calls. but in most nsa games you will see only the home ump untill the championship game- this is a dissadvantage for the ump and both teams.

oops,,but to say wich one has better tournys, there both good and fun to watch , but you might have 1 kid out of 1000 that has a ego trip on either nsa or asa, but the grown ups and there ego trips are like 1000 to 1

My daughters are older (18U), so we have been around a long time. I would have to say ASA has the better competition, and college recruiting. Most college coaches do not go to NSA tournaments. To be honest, I think I have seen only 2-3 college coaches at an NSA "A" college exposure tournaments compared to 15+ at most ASA "A" college exposure tournaments. --At least this was our experience when my oldest (a college freshman) played her first year of 16U and was on a team that played NSA/ASA "A"

So if your daughter is an older player, and wants to play college ball...ASA gives her better exposure and the competition level is so much better too. Look out West - CA, TX, etc- they don't play NSA -(and D1, D2 coaches don't go to those either.)

NSA is good for younger levels (10U, 12U) - But the older teams should play ASA A

As for umpires - There are good and bad in at levels of softball and organizations. They are human and bound to make mistakes. But so are those that watch and coach the game.
