Who are the top 12U teams in IN for 2012-2013?

by Bake » Thu Feb 14, 2013 7:29 am

It is cool to read all of these opinions, I am sure we all agree that any of these teams can beat the other in any given game! This is my OPINION.....................

I really don't know the Indy area teams all that well, but I will say that we played the Magic Gold last fall and they look to have a solid team, and the Indy Crush and Gators 2001 (coach Carver does a great job) both have solid lineups.

Now on to NWI, first thing that caught my attention in the top NWI 12U teams is the New Lenox Lightning, Lightning is from Illinois, BUT, they do have two very talented players that reside in the land of B BALL. WalkOffHomer started this Top Ten with the Lightning so I will keep them in........

#1 New Lenox Lightning (by far!! solid lineup and solid coaching, could be a Top Ten Team at ASA/USA Nationals this year)

#2 CP Bulldogs 2000 (solid team, yes CPBULLDOGFAN they did get the better of us last season and deserve my ranking, please don't forget that this 2000 team had 3 or 4 99's last season, one being the ace pitcher, I think all have moved up to 14U unless some phony birth certificates surface this summer. Never can tell on that one!! Nevertheless they have a solid lineup this season)

#3 NWI White Sox 2000 (please don't look to deep into indoor or fall games, we have struggled with injuries and players playing other sports since September, add to that, fall and indoor games where we bat everyone and have free subs, indoor games are a joke to begin with. We do have an indoor tournament scheduled in a few weeks at the Chicago Bandit Dome, two full fields with 200' fences and 100' ceiling, should be as close to outdoor as possible, I have not been there as of yet but I hear it's great!)

#4 Aftermath (I have not seen this team much, but I believe they deserve this ranking)

#5 NWI White Sox 2001 (These kids get better everytime I see them play or practice, scrappy bunch!! Coach Jim Wright and his staff do a great job and yes all these girls are 2001 with one 2002)

#6 CP Bulldogs (Manhatton) (this team reminds me of our NWI Sox 2001 team, talented scrappy bunch of kids with solid coaching, they could get the best of any of the top 5 teams at any time!!!)

Nothing against any of the other NWI 12u teams, but I am pretty sure they are all B level teams, HEY that's what they have registered themselves as, just check it out on the NSA website. I am also not sure of any teams from the Laporte / SouthBend area, they usually have a couple good teams.

My Top 10 12u Indy Area Teams to Start the Spring:

1) Indy Crush 2000
2) Indy Diamond Chix
3) IN Gators 2000
4) IN Gators 2001
5) Hoosier Crush 2000
6) Indy Shockwaves - Davis
7) Indiana Magic Gold
8) Indy Edge 2001
9) Indy Edge 2000
10) Indy Crush 2001

My Top 10 12u NWI Area Teams to Start the Spring:

1) Aftermath
2) NWI Whitesox 2000
3) New Lennox Lightning
4) NWI Whitesox 2001
5) CP Bulldogs '00
6) Liberty Legacy
7) CP Bulldogs Manhatton
8) IN Raiders Silver
9) Phoenix
10) Triple Crown Threat Black

2 through 10 on both lists are debatable. And I'm sure there are other teams to throw into the mix. This is just my COMPLETELY UNBIASED OPINION!!!!

Oh, and I swear I'm not trying to get anything started either...

Per NWI Rankings:
You've lost your marbles man! There is NO WAY you are from NWI or have played all of these teams. The Aftermath #1?    I about called 911 from falling out of my chair lmao! The Sox 2000 #2? The Bulldogs 00 beat em up every time they played last year. Lightning #3? Fair, but should be #2. And the Sox 2001 #4? Ahead of Bulldogs 00? :x :x :x :x :x Now I'm questioning your sanity, buddy. Your list is way out of whack for the most part. Just for the record, Bulldogs Manhattan played very competitively with the Sox 2000 indoors a short time ago. Gets you thinking...are the Bulldogs Manhattan that good? Or are the Sox 2000 overrated? I'm thinking OVERRATED!!!! And don't get me started on the Aftermath. They couldn't beat the Bulldogs since 8U and put 2 wins up against the Sox 2000 in a meaningless fall NSA tourney. So just cause they beat an ASA sanctioned team in one meaningless NSA tourney, they should be considered the best in NWI?  Stay down south pal!

This is it:

1. Bulldogs00
2. Lightning
3. Aftermath
4. White Sox 2000
5. White Sox 2001
6-10 Anyone's Guess

How's that post I Love FastPitch????

How is that post? Let's just say everyone has an off day, even CPBulldogfan. I can give the Indy people a pass on not knowing that New Lennox is in Illinois. Please don't let that discourage you, and I know it won't!!! This is going to be a fun season, and I can tell it's just going to keep getting better the way people are getting worked up!!!

Yes, I am Indy area. And, yes, I know New Lennox Lightning is not and Indiana team. But I figured you all up there play and see them enough that they should be included.

And, basically, CPBulldogFan and Bake both confirmed that, even though I am in Indy, I know enough about Indiana softball that my rankings fall in line with what both of them believe. Ok, maybe I gave the Legacy a little too much credit. But I just didn't want to have to Bulldog teams back to back.

So, give me some props for being somewhat inline with both of your rankings!

Hey Bake, here is what I see with Indiana Magic Gold; they have some good softball players (individuals). But they haven't played as a "team". If/when they do, they will be better for it. They won the Witches Brew at Center Grove. But there wasn't anybody there. I ranked them 7th because of their losses at the Monster Mash and a near loss to the '01 Bombers at the Brew.

I still think the team to watch down here is Hoosier Crush. They aren't going to beat Indy Crush anytime soon. I would really like to see them play more of an "A" schedule.

And I strongly believe the team to beat in Indiana is the 2000 Indy Crush.

The best in the SouthBend/Laporte/Elkhart area will be: Indiana Thunder 12U, Harris Heat 00 and Indiana Twist. No particular order. The Heat will be a solid fundamental group with good speed, 3 good pitchers who will not throw you out of ballgames and be able to surprise a top shelf team at times. I am very interested in seeing the Thunder 12U as I believe they will be a very good team this year. The Twist will be a typical Twist team. Good fundamentally, well coached and if you don't play your game well enough can beat anyone. I wouldn't go into any tournament feeling great about playing any of these three.

Shit, why are the girls even playing. It sounds like most of the cheerleaders, I mean dads, have it all figured out. I agree with Bake. Any of these teams are capable of beating each other any given game. It's kinda hard to judge a team or it's character when playing indoors in a controlled enviorment. The BTP's(big time players) come out when it's 95 plus degrees and the blistering sun is beating down on them or when it's a down pour on a cold chilly day. That's when you find out if you have ball players or sugar cubes. Let the girls decide it, not dads with pom poms. It's funny how some of the people go back and forth on here and knock other teams. The best coaches are the humble ones. They don't brag about or talk up their teams, instead they will compliment other teams first and then say what their own team needs to improve on. Good luck to all the young ladies playing this up coming spring and summer.

I think bake pretty much has it figured out.Bake I will throw a sleeper in there though if phoenix could land them a #1 pitcher (big if) they could play with these teams. I watched them play our younger bulldogs team and if it wasn't for US scoring 11 runs we would of lost. They have some good bats in that order and by far the fastest team on the bases i've seen.Once their on them coaches definitely.know how to move them.Appeared to me they are young at the mound and look like our bulldog team half 00 half 01.

That is an interesting post, Bulldogforever00. I am sure every team could say the same thing about many of their opponents. If it weren't for all those runs we scored against "that team" we could have lost to them. :P Especially since the number you are sighting is 11 runs. That's beast mode stuff!

I do remember the Aftermath beating White Sox (Baker) twice in the fall. I think Bake knows more about the Aftermath then he's letting on. Especially since it's just a merger of the best players off of the 2012 Phoenix and the 2012 Warriors team. This team could be tough if the coaching staffs work together and make good decisions. If the coach from the Phoenix has majority say they will likely be trophy chasers and duck the Sox and Bulldogs.

NWI 12U ranking. My 2 cents.
Bulldogs (Frazier)
Aftermath
White Sox (Baker)
White Sox (Wright)
Bull Dogs (Manhatten)
Legacy

Who remembers the old Waldorf and Statler skit from Sesame Street?

Statler: That was wonderful
Waldorf: Bravo!
Statler: I loved it!
Waldorf: Ah, it was great!
Statler: Well, it was pretty good.
Waldorf: Well, it wasn't bad.
Statler: Uh, there were parts of it that weren't very good though.
Waldorf: It could have been a lot better.
Statler: I didn't really like it.
Waldorf: It was pretty terrible.
Statler: It was bad.
Waldorf: It was awful!
Statler: It was terrible!
Waldorf: Take 'em away!
Both: Bah, boo! Boo!

Point is, each tries to outdo the other until they end up with a complete opposite opinion of what they started with.

Heck HoosierBBall (aka Buzzkill, :D ), it's all in good fun (most anyway) just to give us parents something to do during the winter. We all know indoor ball isn't the same. But it IS the same for both teams on the field. And being able to play when it's 95° or chilly with rain doesn't make someone a good softball player. Playing consistent, working on your weaknesses rather than your strengths, and going all-out is what it's about!

And as for legacy are you kidding me raiders beat them this year and phoenix I heard was 3-0 against them already.those top 5 agree could shuffle around some though anyone any day could win.no real power houses like last years 99 bulldogs
