Ok i want to play too , I listen to young parents all the time getting caught up in the D1 thing . Why because they think thats the standard , what a load of crap as a coach i am more worried about my kids getting an education and maybe getting a chance to play in college at the level that best works around the educational needs of thr player and the family. I am working on my fourth team to coach through 14,16,18 and i feel bleesed to watch the young adults with a great education starting a family and being able to say they played in college not to have just made a roster. I hope the parents reading these post wake up and get the idea .

All I could find on Danielle Minchin was that she intended to go to IUPUI in the fall of 2010, but she isn't on the roster. I'm sure there's a logical explanation for that (injury, etc.). Then, it looks like she transferred to Midway, Kentucky....an NAIA, as an outfielder for two seasons. She would, by grad date and roster dates, be in her fourth year of college this year. She isn't on this year's roster for Midway.
There is nothing wrong with your experience, so I guess we don't understand why you would use that as a screen name and inflate your image to prospective players in your active/eteamz advertisement. You mentioned being a former D1 player in that public forum, as well. You're saying it in the context of having done it for yearrrrrrrrs...when that simply isn't so.

You can take the context any way that you may like. But ask before you assume. While I attended midway, it wasn't for softball. After I was unable to come back from my surgeries the way my coach wanted me to, I chose to continue my other passion- riding. I went to midway to do so (considered st Mary of the woods but other than that no local equine schools). Idk why their site says 2 seasons I transferred back to IUPUI in 2011 after one year when my loans weren't able to cover the cost of my tuition. IUPUI was my only option financially

So SlapperDad no I don't have any issue with "lower" divisions. I tried to play ball to help pay for schooling. But my surgeries seemed to take forever to heal 100% and even then, I'm still never going to be the same player I was. And you seriously gotta stop reading between the lines, you're making way too much out of nothing. All this started because I said Bell's team had 3 D1 girls verbal as an update on this post. Yes it is impressive. To say it's not impressive for someone to compete at that level, is insane.

I emphasis that I played D1 so parents can rest easy knowing that I am knowledgable about the game at the highest level. Not so I can get players or students. I never considered myself a midway player because I never really played- I was still recovering from my surgeries but I was able to compete in riding because my surgeries didn't change the way I rode. Which I was grateful for!

I agree that it's not all about what division you accept your scholarship from. (I never said it was.) I simply stated a fact. But I agree because when I made my college choice it was based off money & if it was D1 or not. Perhaps if I places more emphasis on the actual college itself, I wouldn't have gone the route I have. But everything happens for a reason and God has a plan. We may not understand it. But he does and that's what matters.

No one said it wasn't impressive that Bell had 3 D1 verbals. And I certainly NEVER said it wasn't impressive for anyone to compete at that level. I assure, I'm cheering for every kid who realizes their dream.

Pretty brutal lashings to a young lady that volunteers her time to help 11 and 12 year old girls. Seriously?? She came to me and asked if I could help after previous ventures were not working out... We do not make money at this ladies and gents... and by the way, we don't make money at this! And we don't make any money either. Soooo, we are taking on all volunteers to help, as I don't have any one that knows how to coach on my roster.. as posted earlier. I'm sure all comers will have the best interest of the kids
First of all!!! When my players verbal to a D2, D3, NJCAA, NAIA (,follow fb) It will be announced!! Just so happens that the only division that is committing into 2015,2016,2017 & 18's is D1. My team is geared to D1 recruiting. We make the trips to major tournaments most local and smaller colleges don't have in the budget to attend. Is D1 for everyone??/ Hell no!! I use my former players(D1 thru JuCo) to attend practices to talk to the players about the life of a college athlete. Many have changed their opinion about the rigorous schedule of playing D1, D2 and go on to enjoy a less demanding regimen of college softball in D3, NAIA etc.. Does that make them less of a player??? Nope!! Maybe smarter! DD#1 went on to enjoy a well balanced college softball career at Marian University. Loved it!! If there is a player that changes their opinion, or has lost interest, does not have the grades for D1, D2 demands... we do ask they not be apart of the recruit age teams. As a parent, you're wasting $$$, time and travels if your kid wants to focus on smaller schools. No need to play our schedule!!!
16u is the age for early verbals! They come from D1 schools. I have yet to hear of an NAIA, D2 or D3 offer anything to Sophomores in High School... But when they do, I will proudly announce it!

I have logged in to heybucket on and off for the last few years---mostly off, because of crap like this. I have never posted because all I generally see is this--a bunch of opinionated ego centered individuals who like to hear themselves pontificate-- because obviously--no one else will listen to them.

Slapperdad, afastpitchfanatic, and SBradley--I don't know you--but really, do you all feel better now or like Bigger People for attacking a young lady who is giving back and coaching and teaching young players? All she did was make a comment on a post and you all made it your personal mission to attack her individually. Really? Who the hell are you all and what are you doing to advance the sport?

SBradley-my DD is one of the players on Craig Bell's team who has verbally committed to a D1 program. She had three offers from D1 programs due to her incredible work ethic and due to her Coach Craig Bell, his DD and the support of the Bell family. Craig needs no defending---but to insinuate that he is a mediocre coach that rides on talent is ridiculous. My DD is extremely talented--and she is where she is today because of his coaching. He has made her a better player. That family does a great deal for this sport and for players to help them reach their highest potential--what have you done? DD#1 coaches high school, DD#2 coaches D1 college, DD#3 teaches while still playing and mentors and Craig and Denise support, and coach. Can you say the same? We have two other players committed and likely two more to follow suit soon. Does that mean that they are better than someone who chooses a different program--absolutely not. It means that they have been judged by individuals with more experience and credentials to be able to play at that level. They will all have a great deal of work ahead of them--but I am extremely proud of them and my DD.

Perhaps time would be better spent determining how to advance our sport and provide more opportunities for all players instead of petty attacks. Like it or not, Craig can deliver on what he says. Work on developing the relationships with the coaches he does and guiding kids to whatever program suits them--instead of researching when and where Danielle played ball---seriously--unbelievable. Do you all want your daughters attacked? It's pathetic. While my we haven't known Danielle long, what I do know is she is trying to give back to a sport she loves teaching and helping young players. Does this thread and your behavior here illustrate that you three are doing the same?

Killerbee doesn't need my support but man I really could not agree any more with him. I don't understand why no matter what anyone on this board post, assuredly they will be pounced on by someone and usually more than one person. I frankly don't know Danielle either but she claims she can help my kid be a better slapper. I will take her word on that until she proves to me otherwise. I don't need to look at her resume, understand her injury history or submit her to a polygraph. It is afterall JUST softball. It's not an issue of national security.

I liked it when we would announce the players who verballed to colleges on this board. I liked to be able to follow the players and celebrate their selections. Regardless of the choice of college to continue their softball career, it is something that should be applauded.
