Need to check out the new points system. Its going to reward the team that attends the most ASA tournaments and not the best teams. I know that the summer dates fall directly in line with all the big exposure tournaments. I have think that the really good 16u's will opt for the exposure versus the ASA, leaving that to the teams not doing the exposure trail.

Indiana ASA Introduces Points System for 2009 Tournaments
September 14th, 2008
Beginning in 2009, Indiana ASA will award points to Indiana ASA teams based on participation in the following tournaments: Diamonds of the North, Diamonds of the South, Indiana ASA State Games, Indiana ASA A State Tournaments, and any ASA Regional Tournament. (additional tournaments may be added at a later date)
These points go towards qualifying for the 2009 USA/ASA A Nationals. NO INDIANA ASA BERTHS FOR THE USA/ASA A NATIONALS WILL BE AWARDED VIA ANY METHOD OTHER THAN THE POINTS SYSTEM*
Teams cannot earn ASA points in tournaments outside of their respective 2009 age group classification.
Teams MUST participate in the 2009 Indiana ASA A State tournament plus one additional qualifying tournament in order for their point totals to be valid and counted.
The team(s) with the most total ASA points for their age division will receive a berth(s) to the 2009 USA/ASA A Nationals. (the number of berths available vary by age group)
Points will be awarded as follows:

1st Place - 11 points
