High School Season

by Danible » Sat Jan 17, 2009 7:11 pm

Its about that time of year again. Everybody should be doing their "conditioning" by now. Which teams in each class are the ones?
I'll put down the onese I know, which doesn't mean a lot.

4A - Center Grove
HSE
Carmel
Noblesville
3A - New Pal should be good again

Dont really know anything else.

Good question, I can offer some opinions about teams in central IN...at 4A I would add Avon(arguably best pitcher in the state), Martinsville usually fields a good team, same as Pendleton Heights...3A I would agree with New Pal, not sure if Roncalli has the pitching...2A Scecina is usually competitive, South Putnam has solid hitters,(left out dd team)...1A Indpls Lutheran. I'm sure there are other teams just as competitive that I did not name who by sectionals could make some noise(see left out dd team). Not as familiar with teams outside this area so I will let others comment.

Forgot about Avon with Esparza and Rogers. They should be tough. I agree with Luthern and Lewis.

Keep an eye on Whiteland!! Good pitching and hitters!! Carmel will be good!! Franklin Central will be strong again! Lost bell, but have alot of depth and a strong Freshman class!

Looking in...good point about Whiteland...they put a spanking on us last season...not so much with their pitching(although solid), but really strong hitters...agree Franklin Central should more than hold their own..that sectional should be a dog fight...Ben Davis has some talent,(they got up for better teams last year), not sure they can hit themselves by Avon in sectionals.

Look for Harrison to make some noise this year in their conference, strong pitching, respectable hitting. Last year they lost some close games against good teams including the eventual champion McCutcheon.

da60 I do not know for sure but I talked to some of the McCutcheon parents and they feel they'll still be very competitive.
