Who are You?

by DrHeat » Wed Jan 28, 2009 3:43 pm

Saw this topic in a different region, and thought it might be interesting here as well. Let's see what kind of response we get.

Which team (Travel and High School)does your DD play for?
Are you a coach, or a parent?

I'm a parent of two Gators one on Gator Gold, and one on the 14U. Both at Decatur Central

Is that the Decatur Lady Hawks??? I am the proud father of an 11 dd RH utility and an 8 dd slapper. Both play rec ..the oldest is part of an "all star" league around the Muncie area. Both will attend Blackford High School. I am the coach, but that is a loose term for me. I manage the team and surround the girls with volunteer coach's who know what they are doing...I kinda watch and direct...lol!!

Indiana Twisters 18U and McCutcheon Mavericks. This year, I'm just a parent, and intend to keep it that way, but I have been a coach in the past.

Your DD is an 18U, yet the recent Purdue softball camp was her first. Either you are not doing her justice, or someone is lying. lol

Silverado, not speaking for Coolstuff, but my daughter is 16, plays 18u and has never been to a college camp...I have never considered them money well spent...we play a competitive ASA schedule with some showcases thrown in...and the college coaches of the schools my daughter is interested in attending will be advised of her schedule...not saying she will never attend a college camp, but I am not going to throw money away for a school fundraiser...if these camps want to be more exposure in nature and less instructional, I might consider them.

Who am I?

Just a dad that is for the first time ever enjoying watching his DD play the game and not having to deal with any of the things that a volunteer coach has to deal with.

DD plays high school at Lutheran and travel for Xtreme 91. Prior to that played 6 years for the Indy Dreams 92.

Neither. There's more to the story. She's a freshman playing up. And that's a long story too.

College camps are nothing more than fund raisers for the most part. Unless you have already been in contact with the school and they are actually giving your girl a look. But to go blindly; pretty much a waste of money...

But, if you knew that already, why even post the evaluation about the camp.

Obviously I like stirring the pot a little. Just having a little fun. lol

My daughter plays high school ball for Speedway(she is a sophmore) and travel for the Indy Eclipse 18u(not to be confused with Indiana Eclipse). I have helped coach, along with a couple other dads, since the team was first organized several years ago.
