What do you do?

by softballrulznut » Sun Nov 22, 2009 5:22 pm

Just curious - especially 18u and 16u teams - during the "off -season". Once the tournaments end in early to mid -Nov. do you do anything with your team? When do you start back up in the spring?

What do you do with kids who have high school coaches that tell their players they are not allowed to practice with their select team until the end of HS season? Or do you do anything until HS ball is over?

Where is the "Easy Button"

You CONDITION that body in the gym. Get stronger over the weekends and when you have time in the evenings. When the season starts you wont be near as intense with the weights and conditioning.

So this is what travel teams are doing...together? They are getting their kids together at least 3-5 days a so that condition actually helps?

At your age level the girls should be working on their own as well as working with hitting and pitching coaches. If not, they should probably find another sport. Its always good to have as many practices or workouts as possible for your team. Get them together and pitch, throw and hit. Gives you an opportunity to see where the girls are at in thier development.

Thanks guys I get all the "on your own" stuff.

I'm sure curious to see how much actual team workouts, skill development, etc etc teams are doing together with all their players.

We are just trying to see if we are ahead or behind the curve. Thanks for the tips though.

Practice as much as possible with your team. Dont mess with the HS girls if the coach doesnt allow it. Get the others together for off season conditioning and practice as much as possible. Remember there is no shame in failure, much shame in failure to prepare. Talk to your girls and make a plan for each player and your entire team for the off season.

You people amaze me>>>Your girls have to be drivin to succed weather your a coach or a parent it don't matter. If you girls want to get better then your there for support..

1. Priviate Coaches
2. Velocity
3. Hittting Ground balls
4. Playing Catch
5. Hitting off a tee
6. Hitting wiffles
7. Hitting in a cage
8. Hitting soft toss
9. Acctually Time Off (recharge your mind and body)

This isn't rocket science, if your child is drivin to be the best she must get better as a player on a team and if she is not the girls that are will get better and she will be a weak link.
