Question Regarding Cooling Rub.

by fastpitch fool » Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:12 am

A friend mentioned there are football and softball players down south who are using a water/alcohol mixture to bring down their body temperature on extremely hot days. I figured if anyone would be familiar with this practice, it would be athletes in Texas.

Can you help me out?

What are other ways you help keep your athletes cool in the summer heat?

Thanks!

It's called Witch Hazel. You pour a little in a small cooler and add water and ice. There is a ratio on bottle. Put rages in the cooler an have the girls wipe there faces and neck down with rags. It works really well or it has for my teams in the heat of tournaments.

We use Aromatic Ammonia Spirit. It comes in a 4 or 5 oz bottle, you get it from a pharmacy. Pour the bottle in a small cooler with cold water and small towels. Works great.

The main thing though is to keep a bottle of water in their hand anytime there isn't a glove or a bat there.
