I simply cannot believe you guys are not pumped about playing in MIDLAND TEXAS.Everyone that is anyone knows Midland is the meca of Softball in the United States of America. You have the Softball hall of fame,Hall of stadium & many many more softball related points of interest. Also we have over 60 miles of wonderful beaches.Great deep sea fishing & guided tours of a actual working oil drilling rig one of only 7856 in the area.

Let me help all of my friends with the Midland question and what to do between games....

Find a good air-conditioned building and stay there until the next game. Today's temp was 106, tomorrow a cool 107. And it just June!

Thanks ASA! We 'preciate you thinking about the kids and making Nats such an enjoyable experience with life long memories.

Sorry I admittedly skimmed the post and didn't see the obvious tongue-in-cheek.

So noted.

Our team played at 14u Nationals in Midland in 2008. Good news first. The softball facility is fairly nice and I think has 8 fields.

The bad news is that Midland does not have the infrastructure to host this large a tournament. There are not enough good hotels, restaurants, Walmarts etc.. for this large a group. In 2008 some of the approved hotels were in Big Spring (41 miles) and Andrews (43 miles). While there are a lot of motels in Midland/Odessa, many of them are not acceptable for teenage girls and families. There have been some new hotels built since 2008, but there are still not enough rooms.

The mall is okay, but there is only one. If you are staying in Odessa (22 miles) it is not close. The airport in Midland sees about 17 arrivals per day split between Southwest, Continental and American Eagle, and further divided from Dallas (9), Houston (6), Denver (1)and Las Vegas (1).
