Hitting Coaches

by dgorsuch » Thu Nov 05, 2009 1:11 pm

I am looking for a proven and credible hitting coach for several girls on my team and in our association. We would like to find someone in the Denton County, Lewisville, and Highland Village, Flower Mound area. There are several in our area that seem to get a lot of students but in my opinion are ripping people off. No real successes are coming out of there camps. We want someone who can really make a difference in our players as they move into 14A and high school competition.
Your thoughts are welcome. Names would be even better.

You can go see Norrelle Dickson at the Sportsplex for your slappers.

I can't believe I'm saying this but what about Richard Wines? I know he's a walking joke on this board but he's coached some pretty successful hitters.

Mark Mulvany is another guy that gets bashed on HB but he's got D1 girls who grew up learning from him.

Both are in your area I think.

I'm not sure if he does private lessons anymore, and he's not in Lewisville but Slade Maloney is another possibility. At the very least he may be able to point you in the right direction.

There are a few cutting edge hitting proponents -- the most known is Epstein, then Englishbey, Mankin, Yeager, etc.

The only one actually in Texas to my knowledge is Englishbey. I think it is worth the effort to hook up with him to do annual or semiannual clinics with your team. If you become a student of teaching hitting, you can then personally keep the players on track in between clinics. As resources you have his DVDs, and more importantly, the private section of his website where you can post clips of your hitters and have him and several others diagnose and give suggestions for drills to improve the swings.

My daughter has been going to Slade Maloney in Irving for a year. She has gone from the strike out Queen, to one of the top hitters on her team. He is well worth the drive. We drive 35 miles to his hitting cages. Before anyone gets started, she is not apart of the Fusion organization in any form or fashion. Thanks and good luck finding the best teacher for your daughter;

Wines, Slade, and Mulvany all are credible instructors. I know DDs who are super hitters who go to each of them. My DD took lessons for the last year with Wines. He is great with hitting, slapping, and bunting.

Hooked up with Tripp MacKay (Hitting coach OU) this weekend. He was in town for the Elite Showcase in Plano. Worked with four of my girls Sunday night. Very, very good and very helpful. Will continue with one of his assistants h ;) ere in town and work with him when in Dallas.
