High School tryouts are starting up and I was wondering what are good times for a 14 year old in regards to:

Base Running Home to First
Base Running Home to Home

and

Throwing 3rd to 1st

Thanks!

I would be willing to say H-1= 3.0 or faster
H-H= 12.5 or faster
Throwing 3rd-1st= Over hand throw should be around 57+ in time I would assume 1.0-1.5 secs.
Thats actually a tough one to answer.

What do these things have to do with playing in high school?

Running, fielding, throwing will not matter. If you have a glove, bat(optional), shoes, and a pulse you can play HS softball.

Kiss coaches butt on a regular basis, contribute lots of money to booster club and participate as significant member of booster club and you should be ok.
Has nothing to do with talent. Its rec ball on steriods!

What about the HS coach that will put twenty girls on the varsity, yours being one of them as a freshman, and not doing anything but pinch running and maybe a defensive inning after the game is out of control? I do not see how that girl can improve over the course of the season especially when the HS coach will not let them play select outside of school ball.

But if someones daughter was not one of the extra 10 or 11 chosen to pinch run or play 1 defensive inning that person will go nuts at start yelling about how his kid got screwed. We covered this in another post. HS ball makes no sense, just roll with it play out the 2 or 3 months it last and move.

**This was not directed at op dd** I don't know who he or she is. Just wanted to clairify.

Be thankful you have 20 girls that could be considered varsity material.
