>>>So why do they list themselves as a 10U "B" team? At this level of play at least list yourself as "A".<<<

I think this is a common issue down in that area(See Livewires, SC Mean Green, Anderson Cats and other 94's in 12UB last year). while those teams may not have been top 10 ASA A in the state, they certainly were above USSSA B level or TCS B's at the national tourneys they went to.

Conversely, we have(in So Cal) too many B teams(in TCS & USSSA) that call themselves A teams and IMHO pay the price for it.

you have to know your place and be realistic about where your talent level is at and apply it to friendlies and tourneys so the team grows the right way.
The spirit, the will to win, and the will to excel are the things that endure.
These qualities are so much more important than the events that occur.

according to tps's website they are 13-3 against crossfire and redhots since last summer. Doesnt seem that tps loses to crossfire and redhots very often. That's an .813 winning % by my math. TPS is very consistant, not unbeatable, but consistantly in championship.

I do love that TPS updates their website with the score of everyone of their games. Easy to keep tabs on teams we dont see everyday.

Hookem, you are correct, but they appear to be more beatable lately as some other teams have been successful against them as well. I'm only saying that ALL THREE teams are CAPABLE. TPS seems to have had the mental edge in those matchups, not necessarily ALL the skills. A couple of months of practice for the other teams that haven't been together as long and the tables could turn. July is still a little ways off.
Not knocking TPS, they are a really good team, just not the ONLY team.

Wow...

Our ears are burning. :D

Just stumbled on the site to post for an upcoming tourney we are hosting.

TPS97 claims to be nothing other than a team with great girls (that work their tails off) with great parents. We respect and enjoy playing all the good teams in the state. Any given weekend could produce a different winner, but TPS will be a tough out. If we lose, we will tip our hats and work that much harder.

Please see our listing for our upcoming May tournament we expect 56 teams.

Thanks ,

DG.

IMO, they are head and shoulders above the the rest and have a level of constitency that we all strive for. Their website shows 14 tournaments and they made it to 13 championship games.

Good luck to ALL the 10U teams. Texas has made a great showing at ASA nationals the past two years so keep practicing and lets do it again.

95 Texas Glory - 2006 ASA "A" National Champs
96 Diamonds - 2007 Runner-ups
????? - 2008 - let's go for champs again!!!!!

I have to throw my vote to Sweeet Gold. I saw them this weekend in their own tournament, which by the way was a first class act. With all the distractions of hosting, they still manage to play a very high level of softball for their age group. But I'm more impressed with the way the players and coaches handle themselves on and off the field. As a spectator and a parent of a player on another team, its a pleasure to see this kind of group have success. Keep an eye on these girls as this team graduates through the different age groups--they seem to have unlimited potential! My hat's off to the organization. Keep it up and continue setting the standard for the great state of Texas!

I agree that Sweet Gold is a very good team. More so though is that they are a very well coached team. All players on the field are engaged mentally in the game and communicating with each other constantly. That makes the difference between a good team and a team that can go places. My hats off to the coaching. I hope we are able to play them again before nationals as we have to really step up to play with them. They are beatable, but not very often as they bring their "A" game every time I have seen them.
