It is easy to criticize hiding behind a screen name

Everyone who has read my post in the past on here knows who I am. I am not hiding behind a screen name and bashing or criticizing every idea that comes along because there is accountability to those who are reading my post. Accountability helps restrain the tongue. Hey Bucket was started for the softball community to have a place to share their successes and their problems. There is a group of people on here who criticize and bash every single thing that is posted here. I do not believe that they are helping solve problems but only creating more for the people who truly hope to get some ideas for their problems. If these people that are doing all the criticizing had to do the same criticizing with their name and picture up for all to see, their post would be different. I do appreciate those who are truly on here to share the problems and successes they have in the softball world without bashing everyone else. Sharing ideas and problems and successes with others in hopes of encouraging someone else or getting help with those problems should be what this forum is about. This forum seems to have an a small portion of people who post on here thinking that this is the Jerry Springer forum and they ruin the forum because of their relentless bashing of every single thing that is posted here. Maybe hey bucket needs to re-design the forum more in the style of Face book or My space where there is a little more accountability.

Thanks
Larry

Ps. I am sure the usual crowd will go through this post and bash me over and over, For sharing my thoughts and problems on this forum. NO SURPRISE!

Hey I know you. Well I know you as much as you know me there Larry. Do you know how many Larrys I know? What is your last name? Smith? I think I have a lost cousin named Larry Smith. If you don't mind I would like to know your address, your phone number, how old you are, credit card number, personal email address, what kind and color your car is (I promise I won't egg it or anything like that), and where you work.

Have you ever considered, there LARRY, that people might not want to give names because they might not want their daughter targeted for something that they might say here on HB. You know, just for saftey. Hey but if you don't care go on. Give us all YOUR INFO.
That goes for anybody else that is such a stand up person and just wants to share!

Many of us are not "hiding" behind screennames. As it was stated earlier, we all have kids (and in mine and others case, grandkids) and that is primarily what we talk about on HB. You obviously feel comfortable exposing your kids to this forum. I do not.

There is a flipside to your complaint. One of the reasons so much truth is out there is because people don't have to "restrain their tongues." Sure there are some bad apples in this bunch, but a lot of good can come from people saying what they normally wouldn't. Some of these people and their bashing, etc. bother others. I find it rather amusing reading the banter on HB. I completely understand why other folks may not. Apparently so did the inventors of this form as they give everyone the opportunity to ignore any user they choose with a simple click of a button.

I will only bash you for your continued refusal to use paragraphs.......

PS - most people on here know me.... I'm kind of a big deal!
When asked how many times she hit Tiger with the golf club, she responded, "I'm not sure...put me down for an 8!

I hear some say that your real name would hold down on some of the banter that goes on.

My question is what is the real reason you want to know people's real name?
Are you afraid, if you are a coach that some of your parents or fellow coaches may be bashing you?
Do you want to know so you can really get back at a person??

I would hate to be at a ball game and some irate person jump me because I disagreed with them on the bucket.

Is some coach trying to get back at me through my family for something I disagreed with them on the bucket.

Screen names not only protect people and their familities from irate persons, but they also allow a person to state how he/she really feels on a topic. This allows for discussions that could benefit other bucket people.

Yes there are those out there that just want to stirr the pot no what the topic is and will take the opposite on any discussion, but that will happen screen names real names are whatever.

Commitment comes from those that have the true Desire and Feel Confidence in their Leaders. Try to Lead not police and you may find a better result. Some of us use a screen name simply to protect our dd's from any backlash should we say anything that rubs someone the wrong way. However, it doesn't always work. Regardless of any perceived anonymity, the things you say can and will be held against you with certain people. There are a couple of organizations/coaches that patrol the boards looking for posts about them or their organizations. Even if you ask for advice without using names, be cautious what you say when it comes to insider-info regarding even unnamed coaches or teams. These patrollers will figure out who you are and may call you out publicly. There are certain topics now that I only read for the info/entertainment but on which I would never post out of fear of backlash should I step over the line.

As a parent, it's sometimes hard to get objective advice. If people know who you are and where your dd plays, you may not get the same kind of information as you would otherwise. I think screen names are necessary, but I would never assume complete anonymity.

Here let me help a bit, I have 2 DD's playing college ball on the East coast, I drink Becks & like long walks on the beach.

You forgot to add, your favorite color is red, you like puppies, pizza, and hugs! :D
