Agreed...

There's got to be a better way to qualify...and who the hell is giving Midland the props to host this anyway? When will someone wake up and make it easier on the customer? The Teams!

Joe you simply are going to have to get over your envy of me. It is impossible these days to post something without making a reference towards me. I appreciate the flattery. I know, you know, and most importantly everyone else reading our posts know how much of a beating you have taken from me, but at times you just make it too easy. Lets take your latest episode regarding the HOF Qualifier.

"There's got to be a better way to qualify..." - Translation - Why can't they hold this tournament in Tarrant County somewhere and when will I ever be able to play in OKC at the HOF tournament.

You see Joe, this is not VTD but ASA. ASA extends its boundaries beyond Tarrant County. You have teams from ALL over the state of TX competing in this tournament. Therefore, they have to rotate the location of the tournament to try and accommodate teams from all across TX. Also, because of the large number of teams that participate, they need to have it at locations that have access to more than 3 or 4 fields. Where and how do you propose they handle this to make it easier for the customer? For your own edification, here are the locations for this tournament over the past 6 years:

05 - Grand Prairie
06 - Houston
07 - Midland
08 - White Settlement
09 - San Antonio
10 - Midland

Maybe this is the genesis of your disdain for GG. They have had the HOF Qualifier in your own backyard 2 of the past 6 years and you were not able to qualify. I'm sure it was GG's fault for purposefully rigging the brackets so that your team played an A team right out of the gates.

I do not know this for sure, but logic would tell me the reason they have this large tournament in Midland is because the complex there has 9 fields. Therefore, logistically, it is far easier on the customer - the TEAMS. Because of the large number of teams that compete in these tournaments, I know in the past they have had to utilize different field locations within the same metroplex area. This makes it hard on teams having to drive from one field to another during the same day as well as trying to coordinate motel locations. This is why Midland makes sense.

While I am on the subject of making it easier for customers...the teams, lets examine VTD. I noticed VTD's latest enterprise is to have tournaments out at BLD...a nice facility. However, you cannot bring in food or drinks and at the same time we are going to charge every person that walks through the gate a gate fee. In addition, they will probably figure out some way to have their relative be the official tournament photographer...talk about a conflict of interest. Remind me how that is looking out for the best interest of the consumer again. I know, I know, there will be air conditioned areas to watch the games from and in the TX heat that can be a valuable commodity. But I am just not completely sold on how this is better for the consumer.

So much here to respond to...so little time...

I'll keep it simple....Midland

Let's say what...30 teams?

2 teams from Odessa, 2 from Midland...

24 teams from all over with a minimum 6-8 hours drive, no where to stay, no where to eat...lots of coin$$$.

Can you spell WTF?

Logically...

DFW - 50 fields
Houston - 50 fields
Austin - 30 fields
San Antone - 40 fields

Yes, logically

Typical Joe - all complaints, no solutions. Like I said, how do you propose handling this so it is easier for the customer?

Nowhere to stay .... 2 La Quintas, Best Western, Super 8, Hampton Inn, Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Fairfield Inn, Hilton, Sleep Inn, Days Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn and Holiday Inn Express just to name a few.

Nowhere to eat ... over 125 restaurants within a 6 mile radius of the complex.

Lots of coin $$$ ... it is not any more expensive than anywhere else in TX. The vast majority of teams competing in these tournaments are from the DFW and Houston areas. If you have it in Houston, then over half of the teams are going to be paying for a motel in Houston. Same thing if it is in DFW. If in San Antonio or Midland, you have all those teams from DFW and Houston spending money on hotels, but it is spreading the game throughout the state. Every competitive travel team expects a certain degree of travel expense throughout the year...it just comes with the territory. In fact, it might be cheaper to get a room in Midland than say in Houston or Dallas.

Keep dreamin' bro'ho...

Learn how to read Joe. Yes those larger metropolitan areas you listed have those number of fields available to them throughout the area. I was referring to one complex, the Midland complex has 9 fields in one single location. That is what I was talking about when I referred to making it easier on the customer. Nobody wants to have to drive from Alva Jo to Kennedy in San Antonio; or from Bob Jones to Mansfield or White Settlement in DFW; or from Pearland to Deer Park or Spring in Houston, all in the same day to play different games at different complexes.

Spin it anyway you want brother. Let's see...

Bob Jones 6 fields
Keller 4 fields
NRH 4 fields
Grapevine 2 fields
16 fields within 10 minutes of each other

Plano 9 fields
McKinney 6 fields
Allen 4 fields
19 fields within 15 mintues of each other

Would you like me to keep going? Hmmm....

OK Joe, for argument sake, I will give you those fields and their approximate travel time between locations. But how is it easier for a family to play a game @ 1:00 at Bob Jones, walk to the car, load up all your junk, drive 10 minutes to NRH, unload everything, walk to the fields, play at 4:45, then turn around and load up everything back in the car and drive back to Bob Jones or perhaps Keller and play a game @ 8:15? I have responded to everyone of your claims about this tournament. How about explaining to me how there are no motel options in Midland, or dining options in Midland, or how VTD is making it easier for families by having tournaments at BLD.
