by youknow23 » Thu Nov 18, 2010 1:21 pm

You can go to the Adidas Futures website and click on the tryouts. There you will get the phone # to the coaches and call them for all your answers. They are very willing to help you with all your questions.I also would watch the videos on there that tells you what it is about.I have talked to some D1 coaches that say this is going to be HUGE!!!

Does anyone have any information about these adidas Futures National Tournament teams trying out Saturday? Who needs to be trying out for this, or is this just a way to fill out teams for Gwyn's new program that has split off from Fusion? Also seems fishy that Gwyn hasn't put anything in the VTD post that he has left Fusion (rumor is that McClaskey has left Freedom too). Whole thing smells.

That's exactly what is going on - there is no need for them to post for tryouts because no matter what they say - and they have emailed those who have contacted them about trying out saying that they are NOT going to try and take players - that is exactly what they are going to try and do - steal players!

It does smell. If it looks like a skunk, walks like a skunk, and then smells like a skunk lets call it what it is!

PS. It is exactly this reason why I think they have NOT announced this formally or posted for tryouts because they know everyone will see what they are really up to.

Who needs to be trying out for this?
Straight from the adidas Futures website: The adidas Futures National Tournament is a tournament of elite uncommitted softball athletes ages 14-18. These athletes will either already be on travel ball teams and/or will be selected by one of the top 50 adidas Futures Travel Ball All-Star Coaches. An individual player that is uncommitted may attend an open tryout being held by one of the adidas Futures top 50 coaches.

Is this just a way to fill out teams for Gwyn's new program that has split off from Fusion?
No, this tryout is not being used to fill out any team, other than the 2 adidas Futures teams that will be selected. I have decided to split from the Fusion and setup a new organization, but the teams in the new org are already full, and have been for several weeks now. This tryout is exactly as advertised.

That's exactly what is going on - there is no need for them to post for tryouts because no matter what they say - and they have emailed those who have contacted them about trying out saying that they are NOT going to try and take players - that is exactly what they are going to try and do - steal players!
If you're going to try and stir the pot, at least get your facts straight first. The email that was sent did not address whether or not we were going to try and take players. In fact, the exact opposite. From the email I personally sent to every player wanting to tryout: "While Courtney and I have been selected to coach the two teams, we have both agreed that it is not in our best interest to evaluate and select the teams. We both coach travel teams, and since several players from each of our teams will be trying out, we have decided to bring in outside people to evaluate the players and pick the teams. We are doing this in the spirit of fairness to everyone involved. Courtney and I will both be at tryouts to oversee things, but again, team selection will ultimately not be up to us, but rather the group of instructors we bring out. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask." Courtney and I have both reiterated to our own teams that they are encouraged to tryout, but this weekend they will be no different than any other player out there. There are 30 spots available, and the best 30 will be selected, regardless of team affiliation.

It is exactly this reason why I think they have NOT announced this formally or posted for tryouts because they know everyone will see what they are really up to. No reason to post for a tryout because there was no need to have one. Both the 16U team and Gold team are full, and were without the need to have a tryout. Again, there is no hidden agenda or recruiting being done at this tryout. Sunday is being used to pick two team for the adidas Futures tournament in July. If you'd like to come out and see "what we're really up to", please do.

Oh, thank god, I was beginning to think that this was the worst kept secret in North Texas.

So, out of curiosity - just how many Texas Fusion Gold and 16u players did you steal from Slade after he kindly gave you the opportunity to coach in his organization and supported you and sold you as a coach?

I just hope they are some what fair about the selection process. It would be a slap in the face of the Adidas program if they had ten of their own players on each team. Im sure they already have a core group picked out for each team. The same goes for Naudins tryouts. They also need to take in the players body of work not just go off the tryouts! Talk to there travel ball and high school coaches. Also find out if the familiys can handle the travel time and money. It should be a process not just a tryout. Should be intresting.

FYI, this is going to be a heck of an organization best I can tell from this VTD post.

I'm sure that East Texas Baptist will be interested to hear that they have a new player attending their "new campus" located in Mount Pleasant, Tx. For those of you, including the new Mizuno Impulse organization, that don't know East Texas Baptist University is located in Marshall, Tx.

On behalf of the Mizuno Impulse staff, Congratulations!

I am very proud to announce the commitment of Jessica Delgado to the 2010 NCAA Division III National Champion East Texas Baptist University Tigers located in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Jessica, a captain on the Arlington Martin softball team, will continue her academic and athletic career under Coach Janae Schlabs-Shirley. "We are so excited that Jessica has decided to continue her education and softball career here at East Texas Baptist University. We feel that she will be a great asset to our program and she has the potential to do great things here as well as will help us to continue to compete at a high level, says Coach Schlabs-Shirley.
Delgado is a multiple 1st team All-District selection (2009-2010) as well as an Academic All-District member (2009-2010). While at Martin under Coach Cathi Rudy, Delgado earned the Martin Warrior Golden Glove (2010) and Offensive Player of the Year (2010). Coach Rudi says, I have had the privilege of watching Jessica play for 2 yearsin that time I have seen an outstanding athlete and leader. I believe her passion, commitment, determination and drive have prepared her to be successful at the next levelher team will miss her presence on the field next year. After coaching her for the past 2 years, Jason Gwyn, Christina Trice and I couldnt agree more with Coach Rudis statement.
Off the field, Jessica a member of the Martin Warrior Key Club and actively volunteers at her church and within her community while maintaining a stellar GPA at Martin High School.
On behalf of everyone with Mizuno Impulse, I would like to congratulate Jessica and her parents Pablo and Elvia Delgado.
