Texas 14u "A" Metros

honcho55 wrote:Just like you said that if some state registered teams can opt in to metros, why can't it be vice versa? :ugeek:

From what I was told recently, ASA (or some part of it) decided this year that those teams that were not currently registered in a metro could switch this year into the metro but that if they do, they cannot switch back. I have no idea why this would be the case but it could cause trouble (as far as participation) in those other districts.

Does anyone have the link for the list of teams that are playing the 14u state tournament in longview this weekend? I can't find it anywhere. This years Houston metro looks to be a pretty good tournament even with Storm and Peppers not participating due to already getting their berths. Although it does look like there are only 2(?) '93 teams going.
My daughter is perfect, she knows everything. Just ask her.

LD, I can't find it either. Looked on Longview's GSA site that hasn't been updated since 2005. Maybe after the draw tonight they'll post in replacement of the "Packet" on txasa site?

You were trying to be a "know-it-all." Your "opinion" was a slam against every "state" team in an attempt to evalate the relevance of your 4-team Dallas Metro team tournament that you probably think you're DD's team is going to win.

Defensive . . . not at all. I'm just annoyed with the continued display of arrogance by North Texas teams in general, and Dallas metro in particular. Hopefully, your DD will qualify for Midland, and you and your DD will discover what the actual difference is between her team and the Lakewood Ladies, Corona Angels, Legacy, AZ Hotshots, etc. Because I've read most of your posts over the last few weeks, and it's soooooo obvious that you've never been near a national tournament of any kind ASA, USSSA, USFA, AFA, NSA, PONY, TRIPLE CROWN, etc.

If you do make it to Midland, or actually attend something in Park City, Panama Beach, etc., then this fall you will go tryout out for one of the real Glory, Elite, Batbuster, Traveler's, or one of the up-and-coming independents who know the difference. I'm pretty sure you don't have Shelton, Bancroft, Wardlow, Graves, Naudin, etc. wasting their days on Heybucket debating who the "best" 10u or 12u or 14u team in NTX is becaue they are more worried about who the best 18u Gold team in Houston, Oklahoma, ec. is.

This forum started out as something different, but the regular posters here are starting to sound more and more like a rec ball league ever day, or heaven forbid . . . eteamz.

Thanks for the clarification LD.

However, I still think that it's silly to not let everyone play states if they so choose. How can you claim a state championship if not every team is allowed to play?

Hey Travelball, am I doing a better job of paragraphing? :ugeek:

Travelball,
I agree with most of what you have posted but don't let these people get to you.Everyone likes to think that their area (state or metro) is the best and therefore they put down the competition.

Ex. 95 Travelers were on here for a long time bashing everyone and even challenging teams like Round Rock, etc. They were beat out of the HOF qualifier and at the National qualifier by what they considered weaker teams and now that they have been forced to play in a WEAK Dallas Metro tournament (they are a metro team) with just 3 teams to earn their berth, they have become VERY QUITE ON HERE.

They are a good team and deserve to go to nationals but they have to play metro now in order to advance (they have no choice but to play metro).

Some people get on here and talk big to just seem bigger so don't let it get to you.

BTW, I have been around a LOOOONG time and I can assure you that I was around when J.D. Bancroft (Elite) and Dan Adkins (Glory) use to bash each other pretty hard on the VTD. They were playing 12U or 14U then I think but hey, they grew up and so will everyone else.

You say travelers parents were bashing everyone.I have posted that I am a traveler parent. You can look at my posts and I have not bashed anyone. We have been beaten in the last couple of tournaments, and we will try to work harder to get better.Yes we have been outplayed by some good teams.Good luck to all the teams.I have lots of respect for all the teams and wish them well.By the way who does your daughter play for.

Grand daughters play 14U.

Wizard, you have very respectful to the teams but many of your parents haven't. You can't deny this obvious fact.

On past posts their were challenges, bad mouthing, and negative comments. Ya'll are a very good team and like I said you deserve to go to nationals but it is very obvious that after ya'll lost several big ones that 12U got quite.

12U is actually VERY quite.

Because Texas ASA State is a "local association" just like Houston metro, Dallas metro, Ft. Worth metro, and Bexar metro. It is not now, has not been, and never will be a "State Tournament" like in high school. It seems everyone but Dallas metro knows that . . . but that was the point, wasn't it.

If Dallas metro wanted to, it could forfeit it's charter and join the state association, but that will NEVER happen because they will never give up their one guaranteed berth to nationals each year.

BTW, someoncare, you are correct that J.D. and Adkins used to bash each other all the time on VTD, but they grew up, wised up, and realized that they are much better off working together to promote NTX softball than tear each other down. . . too bad that too many of the newbies here have no sense of history and seem destined to repeat their mistakes . . . we are headed right back to the old system of tear someone else down to build your team up . . .
