12U Teams

by queenbee » Mon Aug 25, 2008 7:25 am

Houston Area Top 10
1. Bandits
2. Thunder
3. Riptide
4. Aces
5. Ice
6. - 11. No particular order, Peppers, Sting, Kaos, TPS97 & Red Hots 97

Bandits should be loaded, other 2nd year teams have at least some question marks. Some bigger question marks than others. First year teams will have to adjust to 12U before they can compete, but the same two teams that were the best at 10U last year will be the best two first year teams in 08-09 and should compete right away.

Looks like Bandits, Thunder, Sting, Aces, Peppers & TPS97 play in the same tournament next month in Sugarland.

I personaly dont think the 12u teams in houston have any great coaches but some can get it done with the talent they have.

Top teams that have the pitching to compete (in no paticular order)

The Bandits
Texas Aces
Riptide
Peppers

I am sure there will be some sleepers.Good luck to all.

People really need to take notice, If you look what happened at the USFA nationals in florida Highvoltage took 3rd and really came on strong towards the end of the season. A team to watch for in the future.

Reb, HV is a 1st yr team and did very well with their tryouts recently. Two new pitchers and a 2 big bats as well. Not saying HV will be vying for 1st in ASA State tournament, but don't underestimate what they have gained.

Waiting for the season to get going to see what happens. Alot has changed since July/August. RedHots definitely came out better after tryouts as well. What dominated then is not necessarily a given in the Fall. Everyone's roster has changed a little and that can make alot of difference. It ought to be good competition.

This should be true for just about every team 96s and 97s. Should definately make some teams stronger. Just curious who will be able to take advantage of there new talent.

Has everyone lost their freaking minds??? Wasnt the purpose of this string to identify the strongest 12u teams? How in the heck can you mention the all of these weak sister 97 teams. doesnt it stand to reason that the better teams will be the older second year teams. Just so there is no conflict of interest my DD is no longer in 12u and we are in the Metroplex area. I honestly dont know these houston area teams, but i think the highest finish at 10u ASA A this past summer was like 5th or 6th and there was only 30 somethin teams. Not exactly world beaters. To me, you really can only consider a couple of teams as being the class of Tx 12u. The 96 BatBuster and 96 Diamonds from North Texas, there was a pretty good team or two from the South, the Austin Stars, i think, and the Bandits from SA. I thought there was a godd team from Houston area, the Peppers? The 96 Diamonds were head and shoulders the best team in Texas, after having them beat us (an older team) on many occassions. However, they are not the same team from there 2nd place finish at nationals. They have above average pitching, excellent defense up the middle (SS/2/Catcher), a monster hitting line-up (they have 2 of the biggest girls you will see in 12u), but no speed or outfield. The BatBusters have a lot of talent and have finally beaten the Diamonds their last few games. They may have the best pitching staff, a solid defense and decent team speed. Personally, right now i believe they have the edge over the Diamonds. The season has not even started so obviously all of this is way too premature. But i couldnt help myself with all if this talk about the great 97 teams.
