News***ASA is creating a 16U GOLD DIVISION.

by ru4u » Fri Aug 21, 2009 7:25 am

Premier people, did you really think that ASA was really going to ignore your leaving? There are other big changes coming to ASA. Do you really think that Premier fastpitch will work in the long run? ASA will design all kinds of ways to pull you apart.

Tell us why Premier is going to work. It may work for a while, but ASA people are listening to you. The coming ASA changes will deflate your Premier revolt. Premier Fastpitch will be gone in less than five years.

So will this make kids stay age true instead of jumping straight to gold.

It will have little impact on 18G until 16G proves itself for college exposure. 16G will have a big impact on 16A. The problem will still remain because teams will register for the division they optimistically think will provide the most exposure and ASA does nothing to control the quality of the teams that sign up for Gold.

In which case I'm guessing the Premier founders will happily declare Mission Accomplished and have a nice addition to their legacy.

How exactly does it hurt the kids who "truly earn gold status"? Or is the real issue that it hurts the egos of the parents of those kids?

I'm sure ASA will just walk away from that bloated payday that is 16u Nationals. From 164 teams down to 64. That's a lot of money left on the table.

No way they leave it on the table. In their infinite cleverness they probably go with 16G AND 16A. Why? Because it's perfectly logical to bear the logistical expense of hosting two tournaments instead of one. And they may even get double the "host" fees.

If this is even true, they could be trying to secure a foothold in 16's before Premier walks away with that division the way they did 18G. LOL :)

Also possible that so many coaches voiced complaints about the 164 team format they actually listened and are trying to be more responsive.

Or, well, it could be just about anything - including a hoax! Or as noted, a super top secret tournament that nobody knows about. They could hold it at Area 51! Try to convert all the UFO conspirators into fastpitch fans. Imagine that rumor mill! It would the TX boards to shame! :)

I thought Premier was going to have a 16U division. Maybe even a 14U division.

16U Gold will really get the goat of the California Clubs since their premiere 16U players are playing Gold and will be at the Premiere tourneys. So they will miss out a whole season of 16U recruiting. Those of us NOT in California will take any advantage we can get.
