Parents need a Reality Check

by texaslegend » Sun Oct 04, 2009 8:53 am

First things first, my name is Gary Strawn and Im the head coach of the team this person is talking about. I have no need to hide behind a screen name and get on a website and talk trash about a team that nothing to do with me! Let me ask you, do you have nothing better to do? Does it upset you that bad that a parent is proud of his DD and her team for stepping up and competing against older girls (WITH ONLY 2 PICK UP PLAYERS)? Why do you care so much? I never get involved with any of these posts on here, but you sir are one of the many people that will drive this sport in the dirt. This is real good for the sport our kids love!! Im going to say this just one time, if you have a problem with my little team of 98s and 99s, CALL ME PERSONALLY!!!! 817-832-7714 If not, the shut up, and worry about your own team!

That's what they all say...

Don't sweat it though Strawnman. That parent you ran off last season is just looking for a lil' payback and now that DD is sitting the bench on her ninth team this year, he's on here trying to get your goat.

Write it off as, "all hat and no cattle".

Right it off as, "all hat and no cattle".

Uh, I beg to differ. PainterBoy sees the light and you're just too stupid to get it. C'mon, his kid plays 12U and had to leave rec for better competition. Sure smells like National team player to me. And given his comments and obvious wisdom, is there any doubt that there is much we could all learn from him? I AM forced to wonder if he has a timetable for getting a clue? Dream parent, party of one.

He even had the insight to give this thread an autobiographical title.

WOW! I really screwed this attempt at posting, didn't I??!!!
My post must be coming across with a wrong message. So let me redirect and restate the thought.
I am in no way wanting to Bash your team. I was wanting to make a point that too many parents give their DD all these praises without giving them the reality. I looked at your tourney and the teams that you played. Yes, Your team did good in the tourney, But one would expect you to win against the two teams you beat. The thought is the same as those coaches that think they can build up a team by winning a low talent tourney. (Trophy Hunting). Here is a posting from another thread. The OP was on the Sting Thread under TX if you want to read through it. Almost the same situation as The Post I was refering to on the VTD Congrats.

"Good job Sparky that a way to come out swinging with your first two post. We all know how proud you are of your team but your team is second fiddle to real teams TPS and Kaos so enjoy your wins and zipp the lip. And to answer your question ya'll probable would've lost in the morning.

P.S If you have to brag on your own to for someone to notice then maybe your team is not worth mentioning."

I will finish by saying I am sorry to Mr. Stawn for Upsetting you so much. That was far from my intent. I hope you can respect my difference in opinion on how this poster Praised his DD. You raise your kid your way and I will raise mine my way. I just feel sorry to the kids that grow up with a foggy perspective of the facts. They get so hurt when reality slaps them dead in the face. I would be curious to see the next post from this person if your team goes 2 and out in a quality 12u.

WOW!! I see your true color clearly now, YELLOW!! I leave my real name and # and no phone call. Your post did not anywhere near make me mad or upset me that much! I do get your point and I even agree that parents will be parents and TONS of them need a reality check!! But bringing up things like I had to pick up a pitcher and a few others just to play? That Im posting for a pitcher? Thats an attempt at making our team look bad with alot of false facts. Yes this was not a big 14u tourney, but we are 98s and 99s and to us this was big considering all of them are still legal 10u players. In no previous post by a parent of mine or me have we ever bragged about how good we are or anything close to that. We could very well go 2 and out in our next tourney as well as could any team these days.
I again will leave you with this, which you have not answered! Why do you care what a parent of this team says when we are team on nobodys radar? Are you seriously this bored all the time? Do you not get any attention at home now or growing up?? Tell us all why this bugged you so much and you might want to read back through your posts, whos the one getting upset?
Dont hide anymore, lose that yellow, and say who you are and call.

Well! You got me all figure out!! I am a yellow-bellied message board user. Oh! And I must not like your team. I am from South Central Texas and will not tell you my name since you sound like some crazy idiot. The only reason I saw the post was that we were looking to go up there for a fall tourney. We hear all the talk about how good the 12u North Texas teams are and wanted to play. After reading about the Southlake Boom Box issue (near Fight), coaches in bleachers bashing teams while they are playing, your postings and rants, we can go to the Houston area and cut our drive in half. I have no beef with You or Your Team. It sounds like you sir must have some issues or you wouldn't be so personal. I guess the post was right ("To all the 12U teams out there: You better look out for this team because they are coming into 12U play with a big head of steam!!") Big Hot Headed Coach!!!! Smile it is just a game!!!
