When signing up for a USFA tournament they ask for insurance and you can enter there insurance carrier or you can select other. If you select other you can plug in the information...so i'm assuming if I have ASA insurance I can play USFA?

So what's all this hoopla about "insurance", no one plays IFA or Pony anyways...the real question is this...is ASA going to let us play ASA with VTD Insurance? If not then i'll buy my ASA insurance and play ASA, USFA, VTD and USSSA.

Lori, you're wrong as usual. I read both IFA and PONY and neither of them require you to purchase IFA or PONY insurance. Called both national offices and they both confirmed. All you to to have is a minimum policy limit and name them as additional insuranced. You can do that through any insurance purcahsed anywhere, including your USSSA, ASA, etc. policy you already have. The USSSA policy can be done online immediately. Your scare tactics reaffirm you are one of Glenn's litter.

Re-directing to Slade's concerns...

The rec leagues are suffering, however, I don't agree that rec players moving up to play select is THE problem. To the contrary.... kids wanting to play more competitively is a success story.

On any given Saturday, the soccer fields are full of girls, the gyms are full of volleyball players, cheer and gymnastics are more popular then ever. Why isn't participation in softball trending upwards?

Not bashing anyone here....just looking for a formula that will give us a shot with the new players that haven't been introduced to the game.

This is a great post, and one that everyone involved should be concerned with. I don’t think there is a perfect organization, but change can be good for all, especially when the organization starts looking at itself. It’s time for all to step back and remember what this is all about (THE GIRLS). ASA has been around for a long time and done a lot for the sport in the past, but I haven’t seen anything new in years. It would have been nice to watch championship play on ESPN (like Little League did) or some other type of promotion to help the sport as a whole. I hate for this to sound like I’m bashing ASA – I’m just trying to say wake up. If the districts can’t get along it’s going to be hard to hold on. There are a lot of good people associated with ASA, they all just need be on the same page. I’m not sure if Texas ASA can get together and save what is going on in NTX.

17 minutes actually. . . . amazing technology. It's called a telephone. If you and your cronies would crawl out of the dark ages maybe ASA wouldn't find itself in this boat. And for the record, ASA does allow a team to play in an ASA sanctioned tournament with an insurance policy bought through someone other than ASA (VTD, USSSA, USFA, Triple Crown, etc.) as long as it provides the minimum required team coverage. Call someone at ASA other than Glenn, and ask them.
