Hello, this is James Foust. I will begin by saying I am not a big fan of public forums where you post negative chatter anonymously. Furthermore, this will be the first and last time you hear from me on Heybucket.
I am not going to publicly defend or justify my coaching credentials. True this is the first time in a long time I have taken the reigns as head coach. I do have contacts with colleges and experience with the recruitment process. I will never claim to be as connected as Kevin, Dan, Ken, or JD, although someday I hope to be mentioned in those circles and learn from them and others as I continue on this journey.
I have been involved in sports all my life and carry the lessons I learned on the field with me today in my personal and professional life. I have been coached by some very good coaches that passed on a little part of themselves to me to carry on. I only hope I can do the same for anyone that plays for or has been around me.
I am a proud father of a “DD” that is a hard worker, a leader, and compassionate teammate. She is a 4 year varsity starter, was on a HS state finalist team, a Co-MVP with Taylor Hoagland last year, and attending the college of her choice. What more could I ask for?
I feel that sometimes we lose sight of why we cart our kids around this State and our great Nation. This game is about these young ladies, the memories of being part of a team, hard work, discipline, and dedication. Coaches and players come and go but the game remains. I tell my girls that this game will teach you life lessons you will never forget. Unfortunately this is a not so nice side of the game and a side I hope the players never have to see. The game brings enough challenges of it’s own without these type of distractions.
As for Sonny, I wish I knew. We coached several years together and I learned a lot from him, we were COCO’s. Sure we had differences at times but we were partners in it for the girls. Now our paths have parted and there seems to be somewhat of a feeding frenzy but who really pay’s the price?
As for the Tigers, we all have to start somewhere and this is our starting point. There has been some confusion with post on VTD and rumors but that is behind us now and we are ready to move forward. The Tigers are committed to building a solid program dedicated to player development and helping these ladies achieve their dreams of playing in college. Whatever level that may be.
Again, this will be my first and last post. If you want to know more about me I would be happy to continue this conversation off-line at
james.tigersoftball@hotmail.com. We can sit down and chat about coaching, my philosophy, recruitment, or the girls that play the game, a game that I love.
See you on the dirt…..
