Texas 14u "A" Metros

Last year my daughter's team was a state team. This year we lost several players from out of the area so the state director told us we had to go to the metro that majority of our players were from. 6 are in the Dallas Metro area and 4 are in the FW Metro area. FW metro would not except us so we are now considered Dallas Metro. This is not by choice but determined by your players and where they live.

I do agree that it would be better is everyone could play states but this is not how ASA has broken it down. Could Dallas and FW metro combine and then give out two berths to make the touranment stronger like Houston? Yes, but they won't do that.

The Dallas and FW Metro tournaments seem weak but if you look at years past, many of the teams that qualified through metro have done very well at nationals.

Besides, they have to play in the metro tournament before they can move on to Regionals.

No one seems to be knocking down Glory (Naudin) for earning his berth through Dallas Metro. As far as I am concerned, this team and others like them earned their berth and can now concentrate on buildling until nationals.

I guess my arrogance has totally confused me. No state team has qualified for nationals through either the HOF qualifier or the National Qualifier in Grand Prairie. The metro dallas and metro Ft. Worth teams you are bashing, have at various times beaten most all of the teams signed up for state that are listed as the "good" ones. Now I am truly sorry that we are playing in a four team tourney for one berth. See one of our others qualified through the hall of fame. It seems we can't play in the state tourney, so we have to go the route that is determined by ASA. You are more than welcome to give them your feedback.

I meant no disrespect to any state team, but will defend the metro area vigorously. I also will pit any of us teams against anyone at anytime. As I said in my post, let any team play in the state tourney. The HOF qualifier did and I felt it was an awesome tournament. Same with the nat'l qualifier in Grand Prairie.

So why do you feel that the city registered teams should be excluded from states? Is it because you would be worried that a team from Houston, Dallas, or any of the larger areas take all the national bids. If that is the case, talk about arrogance, or is it entitlement? I have no problem with letting anyone in any tournament.

BTW, all four of the teams in the metro tourney finished in the top 12 of the HOF qualifier. If you look, that tourney had some of the best teams in the state. So stating that none of the metro teams would have a chance at state would be just plain................Arrogant? HMMMMMM ....good Luck to all

First, please read the ASA Code then re-examine your own posts/questions. Second, I've stated clearly that anyone in Dallas Metro can beat any of the top teams in Texas State. That is the nature of 14u ball. On any given Sunday . . .

What I posted was that no remaining Dallas metro team would earn a berth out of the Texas State Tournament. It's a long way from 12th at HOF Qualifier to 3rd at Texas State in a 40-team tournament. How many Dallas metro teams, including Fusion (Mork), made it to Sunday two weeks later at the ASA National Qualifier and how many went 2-and-out.

I'm a strong supporter of the Dallas metro local association, and in years past, it has produced dominate teams that have excelled at the national tournament. The 16u group are among the best in the State, if not nation. For what it's worth, I believe that the Texas Glory (Naudin) chose to sign up for Dallas metro rather than Texas State. But some of you parents on the '94 Fusion (Mendez) need to get a clue before you get on this board and start directing attention to yourselves and your DDs. Take your cues from J.D., Shelton and Naudin . . . focus on your own team, win some games, brag incessantly about your own DDs, promote NTX softball team whereever possible, and stay off heybucket for a while.

WOOOOOOWW.....I'm sorry to have riled up the guru of softball....please send a booklet with the topics that I/we can talk about. Also please be sure to include the rules for paragraphing statements. Again if you look at my posts, NEVER do I say how great I , my organization, my team, etc. are. However, I do stand up when people come on here and say that we/other teams are weak or won't be able to qualify through one place or another. Top 12 is a hell of a lot higher than alot of other teams. I also say that we have come along way, and have further to go. So dude/dudette, relax....oops. sorry

Ok TB, I will concede one thing. I shouldn't have used the terms "lesser" or "bigger". That was NOT a dig at the state teams, it was meant in context to name recognition- recognizable organizations in both metro's- BB, Glory, Elite, and now Fusion.

However, you have now made yourself the ass and are full of arrogance, not ignorance.

Because I've read most of your posts over the last few weeks, and it's soooooo obvious that you've never been near a national tournament of any kind

Wrong- was at 12U ASA Nats in Roseville last year. Got to meet and talk with the LL group a lot.

Wrong- already on one of those, how did you put it, "2nd tier" teams.

As far as I know, Glory (Elliot), Rapid Fire, and Montoya are all Ft. Worth metro teams and each of them could definitely win Texas State. Fusion (Mork), as I said, definitely could, and probably would, win state, but they aren't one of the remaining teams. If you were in Roseville, then you definitely need to take a chill pill here on heybucket. . . also, funny how you resort to name calling . . . also, won't be at Texas State, but I'll let all the "lessor" team know what you think about them if they make it to Regionals.

. . . I'm thinking some of these state registered teams do so because they get to compete against "lesser" teams for 3 berths, instead of "bigger" teams for 1 berth. . .

You and your Fusion sister live in glass houses. You both also clearly don't realize how small the NTX softball world really is . . . people remember and talk plenty about your posts during the last few weeks about taking your team for granted, surprising people at HOF, etc. You dissed the quality of teams like the Bat Attitude and Sneaky Cleats after winning in Henderson . . . I know the Traveler's (Splash) and BBusters (Montoya) can't wait to draw you again in the first round. Your response is always "I didn't mean to upset anyone" or "well, I was just kidding or joking around or wasn't being serious or whatever."

I'm certainly no softball guru. In fact, I"ve got few answers. As far as I know, there is no manual, just lessons learned. I'm learning every day what it takes to be a parent of a DD who dreams the dreams and needs a dedicated parent to help her get recruited. But, I have learned to take good advice from wherever I can find it. I also know from experience that in a few years, if you hang around that long to build your team into a winner, you'll laugh when you look back on this time in your DD's life, and realize how little you knew about how all of this travel ball stuff actually works.

Travel Ball, Boy, you must have a dog in the fight at state tourny, you sure are loud and proud. You get on here telling people who should and should not be posting on heybucket. You think you have really been around the block and back at this "travel ball" stuff. If any of the metro teams [ft, worth, Dallas, or Houston] were playing at the state tourny, none of the teams that you homers have listed as top three finishers would even be in the top 8. I get so sick and tired of listening to people like you that have been playing select ball for a couple of years and now they are an expert on the game. You think little Suzies team is the best in Texas and you know everything about softball and every team. BTW, I have had one DD play four years at a D1 colege and have another that has already committed as a junior. I'm sure I have forgot more about [TRAVEL BALL] than you will ever know. So until you get little Suzie out of 14u, maybe you're the one that doesn't need to get on here for a while mouthing about everyone. I personally like reading the post 3Bsnag and the big HONCHO. P.S. tell little Suzie good luck at state.
