Top 14U Teams in Texas?

by pbj2000 » Thu May 27, 2010 7:05 am

You can't...for some reason ASA doesn't do a very good job with posting results on their website. Not an ASA or VTD basher, but everytime I look up results of an ASA tournament...well, it's hard to find them, unless there on a bulletin board somewhere.

Try to grasp this concept if you can. We are not interested in playing tournaments, regardless of sanction, unless it has what we consider to be the very best teams in our area, the state, or surrounding states. It is not about winning trophies, or necessarily always about winning games. It is about competing against the very best competition available. Our focus is on National qualifiers, HOF, and ultimately Nationals. We will gladly play anytime, anywhere against any team sharing our same goals because we know they will provide us with the level of competition needed.

Since that is our mindset and goals, it is quite apparent to most knowledgeable softball people, that ASA is by far and away the most superior product for our age group. Yes, I am fully aware of PGF and its potential, but at this time it is not relevant to my DD's age level. Surely you are not going to sit there and try to defend the level of competition between ASA and VTD Nationals. IMHO, in terms of pecking order, I believe VTD would fall below USFA, USSSA, IFA and be on par with PONY.

Most of them have played in the VTD tournaments, as well, and guess what???????????????????
They didn't always win!

This list that you refer to was just me throwing out 10 teams that I thought the general public (i.e. those that read and are active on HB) might consider to be in their top 3. Nowhere did I state this was MY list of the 10 best teams 14U teams in the DFW area. However, since you are the one that brought it up, let's go back and revisit those results. Here are the Top 5 as voted by parents on the team: ;)

1. Kruzers - Have not played one VTD tournament to my knowledge
2. Fusion - Have played in 1 VTD - the Bomber and placed 2nd
3. DBat Mulvaney - Have not played one VTD tournament
4. Glory Poole - Played in Bomber (DNP) plus 3 others with 2 2nd place finishes (one an 18U) and 1 4th
5. Diamonds - Have played in 1 VTD and won it

Based on the above info it looks like they have done pretty well. Again, not MY list but as voted on by the public.

If you would have taken care of business sooner, then you could have have earned a weekend off.

You are truly clueless. Please let me and everyone else know on HB when his team should have taken care of business sooner so they could have the weekend off. When was there an earlier qualifying tournament for either HOF or Nationals?

First, remember this thread is about 14U teams. In terms of the "elite" teams most people are referring to you can go to Dallas ASA's website and find the tournaments there, along with results and score updates. I can assure you the few actual tournaments these teams have played were not 5 team tournaments. Most of these teams have elected to play in 1-day friendlies that cost about $130 per team for 4 games. The teams that primarily make up these friendlies would include: Fusion Routon, Fusion Rhodes, DBat Mulvaney, Diamonds, Elite Bancroft, Glory Poole, and 97 Glory. Not exactly what I would call a bunch of pushovers. If your team ever feels like being frisky, just call Dave and he would be more than happy to put you down.

Jemima

Your analysis is flawed and represents a weak spin job. You've failed to include all the VTD tournaments these teams are signed up for in the future, tournaments that were rained out, or didn't make. You've also left off how many ASA tournaments they've played (which is not many or none)... although compiling that information would take you a week or so because the ASA site doesn't contain a function where results or participation is easily available = incompetence.

Your hateful obsession against everything VTD (and those who play VTD) is amazing and a credit to your blind allegiance to a bunch of ASA old farts who still run the local ASA. The nose ring they use to corral you and your DD through this game is amazing...

You deserve some credit though for listening to my suggestion that your avatar was borderline pornographic. And then running with your chosen name...Jemima? Priceless

Interesting that you bring up you...I mean Dave...

It's pretty clear he was at the VTD organizing meeting in Irving last year...all fired up about VTD, sticking it to ASA... yada, yada. Then what happens? He sees an opening after Tate leaves..and guess who the new guy is? Big Dave himself! Of course Dave and GG will work miracles for DFW ASA. I mean...it's well known these two despised each other for years...and now they're going to work together to rebuild ASA in DFW? Pffft...I can't wait...

Not sure how any reasonable person would come to the conclusion I was trashing kids with the out of text comment you posted above. I was simply stating that in my humble opinion, VTD Nationals would fall below USFA, USSSA and IFA in terms of quality of competition, and that I would consider it to be on par with PONY. You can take that however you wish, but you are hard pressed to say I am trashing "tweens."

Since you seem to be in the posting spirit, how about growing a pair, and respond to Vicki's post in the HOF - Midland thread where you maliciously attacked her good character?
