American Freedom

Lori, you and your rec team were obviously were not in Midland, or you would never make your idiotic statements.

The Fusion - Mork lost a close second-round bracket game to an awesome Arizona Desert Thunder (9th overall), who also finished 6th at the Independence Boulder (Louisville) 16u Tournament. The Fusion were eliminated in a close game by the Atlanta Vipers - Berry, who finished 4th overall. Not like they lost to a couple of chumps.

The American Freedom run-ruled the So Cal Hurricanes (7th overall ASA Nationals; 2008 ASA Hall of Fame Champions) and tied the Case Batbusters in pool play. I don't think anyone will argue that the Freedom had the toughest first-round bracket draw in the tournament, losing 4-0 to the eventual ASA National Champion Lakewood Ladies - Black, who went undefeated in the tournament. The Freedom battled back in the loser's bracket before being eliminated by the Florida State Champion Hatters Gold, who themselves were beaten by the Hurricanes in a close game.

In the Freedom v LL's game. most of the LL's runs came when the tournment director refused to stop play despite a driving rain storm where no pitcher could hang onto the ball. Only after it was apparent that it was unfair/unsafe to continue did the TD stop play. At the same time, the Atlanta Vipers - Berry lost their first-round game to the Birmingham Vipers, and the Corona Angels almost suffered the same fate before pulling their game out at the end.

The Traveler's also had a tough first-round bracket draw and blew out the San Jose Lady Sharks 9-2. The SJ Sharks climbed back to finish 9th overall. The Traveler's two losses were one-run games to strong Tri-County Smash and OK Diamond Girls teams where the games could have gone either way.

In short, there is no question the California teams in general are still ahead Texas, but the Texas teams you named not only competed with, but beat some of the best teams in the tournament from California and around the country. Your attempt to diminish either team's accomplishments is petty and smacks of jealousy. In the end, the Traveler's, Freedom, and Fusion are the undisputed class of the field for this age group in North Texas.

It appears that they are splitting the former 14u team into two teams, one 16u one 18G, also going to have a 14u team as well from what I have read.
