Who is the best club coach in North Texas?

Hey, don't knock the parents that bring in the money, they are what makes many teams stay together. Many parents do not pay all of the team fees and expect the coaches to make up the difference. when my daughter played, maybe 50% of the parents paid the entire fee. Coach was forever more trying to collect money at the tournaments. This sport is quickly catching up with soccer and volleyball in the amount of money it cost to play. Quality umps will not call for the $28 per game that most north Texas associations want to pay. TD's have to make a profit in order to continue holding tourneys. The guys holding the college exposure tourneys (except for Ken Graves) are all trying to see who can out do the other in profits...like anything else I suppose, money makes the yellow ball bounce!

BTP, I wasn't knocking the money end of it, just saying that some inferior kids make the club team only for that reason . Which is not any different than the "daddyballin" people are always knocking.

As you know, I moved to Georgia last summer after gold nationals. I have been asked to come back and coach but no final decision has been made as of today. I will say that I miss the team and the day to day workouts with the team. I continue to keep in contact with the college coaches and have watched a lot of college ball over the past few months. My family and I will make a decision about coaching soon, it is a big commitment to commute 800 miles.

So if you come back to North Texas will all of the current Glory coaches that sell hitting, pitching, fielding advice for a PROFIT have to step down? It would seem hypocritical to keep them around after reading your previous post a few weeks back.

Janet, I am glad you like my username. Pretty original huh! I also have a TEXAS Glory tattoo, should I change it to Georgia now? Although I now reside in Georgia, I still wear my Glory stuff with a lot of pride. Recruiting has a lot to do with success for any coach. Put Mike Candrea in charge of a school that is not very desirable to play at for players and see if he has any success. The recruits and the recruiting process is a huge part of the game at every level. Can you really name a coach that has never recruited? Not likely. Besides that, the team that I coached all the way up was made up of the core player that had been there for many years. I never turned my roster year after year as some do. We always added to on an as needed basis but kept the core intact.

Another thing is that I have never offered "Free Softball" for anyone. We have been fortunate to have some great sponsors through the years but have always had a team fee in addition so that there was an investment on the parents behalf for their daughter to play.

To address the other point, If I make the decision to coach again, it would only be to coach one team. I would not be running the Glory club again, I have no desire to manage the club again, Kevin is doing a good job of that and if he allows coaches to profit from being a Glory coach that will be up to him. I will not try to speak for him.

WHY on earth would you subject yourself to the work and torture of the parents with no kid on the team? Will Dan and Kevin reunite to once again save north Texas from bad softball or will you be on seperate teams? The talent pool needs to come together, not be spread out even more. Tell us the who, what, where, when and WHY!

It's all on VTD. KS's team is completely different than DA's team.

So what happens to Glory Gold-Huse and the other 3 or 4 18U teams or is there just going to be another one? Time will tell.

Whatever happens I just hope that the organization doesn't get watered down like the other ones. Yes all girls should have an opportunity to pursue their dreams of college softball. BUT, there will eventually be mass confusion and diluting of the name. JMO

What are you talking about? Dan does have a kid that will be on this team.
