12U Predictions for the Bomber tourney

We use multiple parks to accommodate the number of teams and allow for an earlier finish time on sunday for the out of town teams....hope that makes it easier to understand?

Bomber,
You can not deny that you misrepresented this tournament. 12U was told they would play at Huber as well as 14U. I have a motto for you.

Welcome to the Bomber Classic where our motto is bring your own vaseline, one way or another you are sure to need it!

I can't wait to see your draw in the bracket and deal with your far sighted umpires! I wish the coach would have skipped this miserable experience we are about to embark on!!!
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

Wow another 12U parent making excuses about the draw and the umpires even a month before the tournament. You guy's are too much.

I say again don't play if you don't like it. Its not like its too late and you are already at the tournament. But wait if you do that then you can't brag about how good your team is against the best competition. So instead you start making excuses before the tournament even begins. I say there must be a reason this tournament is so big every year. COMPETITION!!!!!!! Good teams want to play good teams and do not care when or where. They don't let one bad call loose the game they over come all adversity. Does your team only play well at Huber Ranch? If so there is a tournament there every weekend although the competition will no be as strong. As far as crying about the umpires don't you think the same umpires call games at Huber as well as at Camp Comal.

Cry me a river becuase T Shirts and trophies are up for grabs. Forget about the fact that this one of only a few tournaments that draw the best teams from several cities and states and that you can measure you teams skills against the best from other area's. Lets focus on the fields and umps even though they are the same for both teams.

ASA Nationals will chew you up if you go in worried about field conditions and umpires. I have seen bad calls and bad fields in Houston, Dallas, Ft Worth, Oklahoma adn so on but I never let my girls blame the field or umps for a loss.

PS the good teams are laughing at you!

While I must admit that I do not agree with all of slappers coments I do feel that this tournament will be a good proving ground for many teams. Its early and I am looking forward to seeing many of the teams I have seen before. With this many teams there will some tough draws for some but I think that just getting to watch some of the teams in action will be good. I personally would rather play at Camp Comal because we can bring in our own food and drinks. I really don't care who we play. If we want to be the best we will have all of them at some time. We'll be BBQ'ing at the Motor Home. Stop by and say Hi. Can't wait to see everyone.

96dad, i wasn't coming to the bomber with a cookout and party in mind. if the bomber is such a big deal with great teams "like slappy states), why is it being played at a goat ranch?

We played there not long ago and the fields were not bad. I know the main field is as nice or nicer that Huber. All the fields in the front are good. The only problem I see is that several of the fields are 300ft so if your outfield is slow a double can be a homer but that goes for both teams. I know we play in San Marcos and Austin and most fields are 300 foot so we are pretty used to it. Its is easy to see the holes in your defense. You can't hide a weak slow girl in right field.

Trixsie or any other team who feels like they have been wronged about the location of the tournament. We have played the Bomber Shootout at Camp Comal in New Braunfels every year we have had this tournament but one! We hold the tournament at Camp Comal for one simple reason....it is the field that we have available! No one more than us wish that we had nicer fields to hold the tournament! A ton of people work very hard to make the fields as nice as possible and for your experience here at this tournament to be a good one! The reason the tournament field was expanded was to allow for more teams to participate....we still feel terrible having to tell quite a few teams that we cannot get them in the tournament! With that being said if you are that upset to be attending...we will gladly refund your money and allow one of the teams to take your place. We do not want you to feel slighted in any way. If you will let me know what team you are with we will gladly refund you and replace you with one of the 29 Standby teams....I am sure they would appreciate it!

Take Care , good luck and I hope it all works out for you and your team?

The following is what makes Scott Smith and the Bomber organization disreputable in my opinion AND why our team will not be participating:

Both email's sent on 12/31/08.

1st email sent from Scott Smith:

Coach I wanted to shoot you an email and personally invite you to the 9th Anuual 2009 Bomber Shootout being held March 21-22 in New Braunfels. This years format is going to be a little different in that we will only be taking 20 teams pe division! Our quest is to have the "Top 20" teams in the state participate! This years event already has 13 teams entered and that is just in the first week of invitations. We would love to add you to the field! I am send ing you an on-line invitation....if you are interested just fill it out and send it back and we will get you taken care of from there! Take Care and Happy New Year! Scott SmithTexas Bombers Gold(512) 965-7439ssmith@texasbombers.netwww.texasbombers.net

2nd email sent from the Bomber Organization later that morning:

Your team has been identified as one of the top teams in the State of Texas. And the Texas Bombers would like you to participate in our 2009 Bomber Shootout.

This years Bomber Shootout is by invitation only and your team has been selected. We are limiting sign up to only 20 teams per division. We are only inviting the best teams to bring this years shootout to a higher and more exciting level of competition.

We are sending out only 30 invitations for each division(10u, 12u, and 14u), and are excepting the first 20 paid entries. Once all 20 entries are filled all teams will be notified by email that the tournament is full and we are no longer excepting entries.

Those teams that wish to participate but do not make the first 20 will be put on a waiting list in a first come - first server order.

THOSE ARE THE PROMISES MADE PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT BEGINNING AND NOT BEING FULFILLED. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT WILL HAPPEN ONCE THE TEAMS BEGIN PLAYING.

Our original intent was to have the tournament limited to 20 teams per division....because of the response to the tournament and in an effort to accommodate the large number of teams that wanted to participate , the format was changed. This was done back in early January giving all teams the opportunity to decide if they wanted to attend. I have found that in doing this for a while that it may be impossible to please everyone and that the effort given to allow more teams to participate will not make some happy and will make others thrilled to get a chance to play against the best in the state? Forums like these allow for people to hide behind fake screen names and and cast stones in a way to tear down the efforts of hard working people giving their time to advancing the sport we all love so much? Please tell me your real name and team and we will forward you any refund of entry fee monies you feel owed from being slighted by participating in our tournament...I mean that sincerely! Other than that I cannot think of any reason you might still be upset...in regards to us changing a format (in regards to number of teams) 3 months in advance of a tournament?

Again...Take care and have a great Season!

I guess part of the Scott's problem is that he cannot read....we are NOT participating in the tournament just for the reasons stated. With no slight intended to the participating teams, if Scott Smith or the Bomber organization think that ALL of those teams that signed up are the BEST teams in the state....or even the top 20....all I can say is nice rose colored glasses.

And I suppose that opening it up and not limiting it to less teams had nothing to do with money?...mmmm

I guess that is also why his team was a registered 2nd year ASA 'A' team then went and played in USFA's World Series in the 'B' division. Oh....excuse me....after all who is the USFA State Director that makes those decisions? Oh yeah....Scott Smith!

This is alot of fun! Keep firing back Scott.

By the way, no bashing intended just wanted to bring some things to light after sitting back and reading all the hype about this tournament.

HAVE A GREAT SEASON AND LET'S PLAY SUM SOFTBALL!
