12UA THIS WEEKEND IN TYLER - WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

First of all, the Knockouts have zero to do with the running of this tournament. The only reason they were called the host team is for the simple reason that they were the only team in a 7 county district playing in this tournament. The team is made up of kids from all over East Texas. They only have 1-2 kids on the team from Tyler if that.
As far as the draw, I had nothing to do with it nor was I there. The draw was suppose to take place on Tuesday however the tournament director did not receive the new 3 game bracket template so it was done on Wednesday. I guarantee you, the tournament director is not sitting around trying to fix the bracket to favor any team. He has no ideal of who the top teams are in 12u or any other division for that matter. back inIt was strictly a blind drew. was left to luHowever if a team from the same district came up to face each other in the first game, it was tossed . The rest ck, good or bad. However you see it. Blind draws can be rough. Believe me, I know
my 95 team the last 3 trips to ASA Nationals drew bad brackets.

Unfortunately, ASA does not have a real ranking system or do we go by a point system so the blind draw was used. As for the ranking of the teams we will leave that to the "experts ", the parents on the message boards.

Also to address the assumption that the Knockouts shifted their old coach, this board is not the place to discuss this. The kids and families on this team do not deserve it, they are a respectable group. It is very unfortunate that this happened to them. And as for an easy route to Nationals. They have no intentions of going to ASA Nationals.

I want to wish good luck and safe travel to all the teams coming to Tyler. We look forward to watching some great ball this weekend. If I can be of any help this weekend please let me know. The tournament director for the tournament is Van Jordon who is also the district commissioner for Dist 25

Good intensions or not....... If a team was drawn out and tossed back in ( your statement) Then it was not a blind draw :o Period!!!!!!!!!!!

FirenSmoke, Batman, Robert whomever doesn't matter to me. Seems like this thread is more exciting than the tournament will be. Good luck to all the girls, sorry to say I will miss the action but maybe the Jolly Green Giant will show up or maybe the Seven Dwarfs, or maybe Batman & Robin?

You're exactly right DA! This board is not the place for an ASA JO to explain anything!

Get a clue dude!

Man, if I didn't know any better, I would think we were playing in the Metroplex !!! Let the fur fly boyz ! The old Longhorn business was a total mess. Good team at one time. I don't think there is anything wrong or underhanded about the bracket. Its always bad when you have to "man up" your first game. If you win it , it's a good bracket . Try going to the Metro and them giving all East Texas teams the 8:00 am games while the locals play @ noon. Quit your damn crying and show up to play, you have to beat the best to be the best. SOS different day !

Amen fastpitchfan!!! You all sound like a bunch of scared cry babies. If you are afraid to play the knockouts or longhorns or whoever they are then don't. Stay home and hide under the table. The bracket was not fixed just like the umps are not favoring any team. Just go play ball and if you loose then go home and if you win, congrats. Good luck to all the real ball players and coaches this weekend who are not afraid of competition including the knockouts.
