Boom Boxes at Softball tournaments. TD's Outlaw them.

by Ifubuildit » Sat Oct 03, 2009 11:43 am

Boom,

I am stating my observations. You seem to be protesting awful hard about this so is it safe to assume you were involved in this incident? I am not being a judge. I will leave that to those who run these tournaments. You evidently could care less about softball or the kids and the negative influence being introduced by irresponsible adults. Oh wait you are one of them.

As for the analogy to the Cowboys game there is NO WAY I would take my kid to the boss hog bowl for a game. This would be the place that had adults urinating in cups opening day in the party pass area because they couldnt get to the restroom. This would be the place that now has video of a male and female christening the place in one of the stalls of the restroom. Now being posted all over the net according to news reports.

I am sure I wouldnt want to expose any child to that kind of behavior. Not to mention the language they would hear while at the game.

“JUDGE Ifubuildit”

Well back from a good day at the ballpark, and I never witnessed one ‘brawl”, just a lot of great girls having fun playing the sport they love!!!

I see that you have returned “JUDGE Ifubuildit” in your glorious wisdom, let’s address one of your “comments” for the last time!!!

“No” I was not the feared “Big Rolling Boom box” sorry although it would be helpful if they or someone that knows them would come on and fill us in on the happenings at Southlake so we could narrow down the TEAM that you are associated with because you are beginning to scare me, maybe someone knows the Gentleman that you were sitting with, that ended up acting like a kid 8-)

I love the game of Softball and am very comfortable in my skin!!!!

I should have guessed you had an agenda the first time I read your post and the paragraph below; 8-)

“Even if the tournament directors do not take action on this issue I can promise you that the parents of the players who witness this kind of circus will be writing ASA, USSSA, AFA, and any other number of softball governing bodies to complain. Eventually those bodies will ban these boxes from select softball. If not the parents, it will be the umpires who complain to those bodies. They are tired of them and the disruption to the game”.

You are “OBVIOUSLY” out to destroy the name of Softball and all of the good people involved, and for that matter any other sports venue at any costs big or small, which does not conform to your ideals and beliefs!!!

When anyone has as strong a commitment to let everyone hear their view as you do its scary!!

Those that have not read your recent “RANT” should take the time and really think HARD do you really want to encourage this person “is this the kind of individual we want speaking to our TD’s, Umpires, Coaches, or even our children, we all are free to “voice our opinions” but you find it real easy to state yours “FULL BLAST” and “uncontrollably”, like I said before you always seem to make it all about “YOU”
Are you honestly calling everyone that attends a “Dallas Cowboys” game, entering a “BOSS HOG BOWL” so what does that make those adults and children that have attended a Cowboys game, to have some fun and enjoyment with their children or friends, for that matter any large sporting event, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey?

Have you even considered the fine adults and children from our beloved “Softball Community” that may have entered a large Sports Event locally in the past or may be considering doing so in the future are you calling them the “P” word, which may offend the good majority in the Select Softball World?

I am very sorry you feel the need to go through life stereo typing everyone; I will end it at that, GOOD LUCK!! ;)

BoomBoom

It is apparent where you stand on this issue. NOt really sure why you are being such a jerk about it. Maybe it was you involved in the incident last weekend. I believe that this post was about Rude People who play there music so loud as to disturb others not "pump their girls up" I don't mind the music as long as it is kept at a respectable level, doesn't effect the other teams playing ball and is let say at least PG. You are obviously an 8U team moving up. So have fun with the music cuz when you move up to the big girls it doesnt' matter if you have a live band playing.... The girls there play because they love to play and don't need some song to pump them up. Yes it is about fun but lets remember it isn't your right to have fun if you are infringing on the rights of others. Just turn it down a notch and if someone asks you to turn it down. Do it instead of puffing up your chest and turning it into a confrontation. Seriously worried about our kids with all these wonderful examples out there. Remember they are watching everything you do!!

Our team has talked about music but decided we as a team wouln't play it. I like when other teams play Lady Gaga. Our team doesnt play it, but we like it and it gets our girls pumped up to play. I for one don't have a problem when I hear it. I know the girls like it.

Problem with that is I do not know how many people listening outside of their team knew what type of music it was. That kind of music should be OK anywhere in the world as long as it is not being played so loud that it distracts other teams on other fields.. The team "Spring Sting".

Phantomz, I am what I would describe as a devout, practicing Christian. On Sunday mornings, if I'm not watching DD play softball, I'm at church. I also don't agree that someone is somehow "offended" by Christian music, or that their "rights" are being violated by exposure to that kind of music. That is a manufactured issue. However, I don't agree with you. You can't allow only certain kinds of music, one way or the other. If boomboxes are allowed, then all kinds of music are allowed. If boomboxes are banned, then all kinds of music are banned. That is not discrimination, it's equitable treatment.

Hey, this post in general (not specifically its content) is why you Texas folks should drop the BB's at the tournaments or serious multi-team friendlies. I could care less but with this comes too many problems or potential issues and somehow it will end up involving the girls. If you cant see that coming then you are blind in Texas. All for what, so you can jam at the fields? Watch your kid play ball and watch some other games while they focus and warm up.... or...

I in no way was saying that only Christian music should be allowed. I was simply stating that Christian music should be allowed anywhere in the world!! (pro Christian) I am not sure what you do not agree with me on?? If boomboxes are banned, then no music is played correct?? I more simply was stating that it was the first time I heard a team play Christian music on their boombox at a softball game and I thought it was the COOLEST thing in the world... You must have a problem with me or something as I never said anybody was offended by it either nor that their rights have been violated!!!! What's the problem???
If it ain't broke, why fix it??
