Best 12U Teams in NTX

by Let's Play Two » Tue Apr 19, 2011 9:19 pm

My dd's team has played all of these top 98's in the last couple of months and honestly we can't wait til we get our 9th grade pitcher back. Our team is still strong as they have only lost to Glory Adkins and Fusion. We have beat all the other strong '98's handily. Once we get our 9th grade pitcher back I'm sure we can beat these two teams as well.

In playing these two teams Fusion has some of the strongest pitchers in the area. Probably the best right handed pitcher in the NTX along with the best left hander in the area. Glory Adkins has a right hander that can equal Fusion's pitcher or at least close to it. They are both lights out! The other pitcher that comes close to these pitchers is Rhine's right hander as well, best changeup of all '98 pitchers in the area.

That brings me to my list of the top 98's from what I have seen in NTX....

1. FUSION: Best one, two punch with the pitchers they have. Great defense infield and outfield, top hitting team in the area. Two excellent catchers.

2. GLORY ADKINS: Most experienced right handed pitcher in the area, second pitcher is pretty good as well. Most experienced team. Great infield defense, outfield is suspect. Hitting is inconsistent. One excellent catcher and most experienced in the area.

3. BATBUSTERS: Top 3 pitcher in the area, needs another pitcher to back her up. Great defense infield and outfield. Hitting is good but can be over-matched, not a lot of power. They look stronger than RIP, Fireballs and Glory 98. When their number one pitcher is in the circle they look just as strong as the top two mentioned above without the strong hitting.

4. GLORY: Pitching is fair not dominant. Very good defense infield and outfield, catching is good. Hitting is nowhere to be found as slappers struggle, no power in the lineup. All the hitters look the same 1-9.

RIP, TFS can hang with BB and Glory but will struggle against Fusion and G Adkins. Fireballs have one very good left handed pitcher but defense and offense is suspect. They can hang with these top teams but it doesn't make them top 4.

Bottom line, top 98 teams in NTX are Fusion and Glory Adkins. They can swap 1 and 2 but if vtd records are correct Fusion has beaten Glory Adkins the last couple of time they have faced each other. These two teams are definitely worth the price of admission.

Good luck to all on your run to Nationals. I'm hoping my dd's team also qualifies!

Let's Play Two, you have to rely on a 96 pitcher to beat the 98's. All of the teams that you mentioned, Fusion, Glory Adkins, BatBusters, and Glory 98 have pitchers that can pitch in 12U, which is their real age group. pfffffft, if you have a 96 pitcher on a 98 team, you should be embarrased.............

TexasSoftball,

We're not a 98 team. And yes you need a big time '97 pitcher or a very good '96 pitcher to beat Fusion or Glory Adkins 98. Just ask TNT Gold, Glory Adkins Turkoly, '97 ELite or some of the other better 14U teams out there. These two teams are not your normal 98 teams.

By your comments you probably have not played against them.

Lets Play Two - my point is the topic is 12U not 14U that you are talking about. Yes, many of the 98's are playing in 14U, but we are not discussing on this thread the top 14U teams, so that was my point is all. My daughter does play on one of the top 3 teams, so I do understand how great these 14U teams are. I too am ready for your 96 pitcher to come back and have you guys move up to 16u ball.

I could not have agreed more. You obviously are not a 98 coach and understand the game as your assessment is right on. What separates fusion/Allen is the pitching. Both teams have a solid pitching rotation and a defense to back it up. However, what separates them from the rest is the mental toughness as both teams do not rattle. The rest of the teams tend to be inconsistent and have holes when they get rattled. Batbuster Rhine definitely belongs on this list. Good post.

Greymatter,

The list for the Hall of Fame qualifier is below so from the looks of it most top NTX 98 teams will be there. I think there is some top 12U Houston teams missing isn't there? I can think of one Pearland Panthers???

22's Dad(Smash) I think or both of you are on the Smash, on your earlier question about the Money Tournament. Glory Adkins and Fusion will be there. Top two teams in NTX IMHO.

This money tournament is the beginning of some great 12U Texas softball.

98 Texas Glory (12A) - Gary Kyser

Ok so I think it's about time to get the poll going. One last chance to add a team. Here's who made the list so far:

98 Glory
98 Pride
98 Fireballs
98 Fusion
98 Glory Adkins
98 Batbusters (Rhine)
98 Vortex
98 Rip
98 TFS
99 Glory Blue
99 D-Bat

Anyone else?
