What's up with Team Mizuno?

by justawatcher » Sun Nov 08, 2009 6:43 pm

I keep seeing the posts on VTD. Anyone know who the coaches are? Who's heading it up? Is it a legit sponsored org?

No. Bought gear at a team discount and put Mizuno in their name. Mizuno has nothing to do with "sponsoring" this team. Anyone off the street can do the same thing.

Is anyone notable involved with them coaching or otherwise?

It is a very selective process in which a Mizuno Rep. makes the final decision and will make a team sign a contract.

I would assume that whomever is involved should know what they are doing and has some good coaching or team/s lined up to join Team Mizuno.

I actually look forward to knowing. DFW softball has gotten a little watered down lately and two many teams being built that I personally think that some consolidation needs to take place.

This is a very good statement and I don't want to hijack this thread and change the topic but when you see that there were about 40 teams involved in 12U tournies in DFW this weeked, it's hard to think that there are too many teams out there.

The issue though, to me, is very simple. I am aware of fathers that will not allow their daughter to play on a team unless they can be a coach. 9 times out of 10, the kid is a pitcher who isn't good enough to play so he starts his own team.

Sad days when this happens.

Word through the grapevine is that it is a seperate Team Mizuno team all together. Team Mizuno Gold is trying to expand there team base now the Team Mizuno Fastpitch is beginning a new organization for ages 10U through eventually 18U Gold.

Not very selective if Mizuno picked Texas Sluggers Gold. Probably Trevino knew the rep personally.

Sluggers were out of Grand Prairie or Arlington or somewhere out there right? Why the tryouts in Plano/Frisco?
