KELLER 14U TOURN RESULTS

by Big D » Tue Apr 08, 2008 6:07 am

One good thing about the Keller format was that everybody was able to leave the park at a decent time for a change. Even though it wasn't what everybody is used to, and even if you only lost 1 game playing for 3rd / 4th was a little dishearting. But that will only make the teams better by finishing better.
I think that if enough coaches keep talking to the T.D's in the DFW area most will change the format of their tournaments. Once that is accomplished, we can start getting the T.D.'S to put only 14 teams in each tournament getting all the girls home at a decent time on sunday nights.
I would give up the 1 big tournament of 20 plus teams to play 6 good teams in a 7gg or 6 inning tournament format every weekend.

Big D, I agree with your view on the 6gg 6 inning format. Although there wasn't the traditional bracket play to completion, the 6 inning format added a championship feel to all the games that is missing in most tournaments. It requires sustained focus by players and coaches and any weaknesses will probably show up in that time.

I agree as long as you play teams of the same strength and not teams that you can beat up on.

94 Elite
95 Travelers
94 Batbusters
Livewire

Only good teams in the tournament and would have been better off playing a friendly round robin.

I know that other teams enter trying to gain experience but the more experienced teams need to face each other more often.

I was thinking the same thing. Add a couple of the Glory teams, Fusion, and 2-3 teams from Austin, Houston, and that blonde team from Louisiana (Rippers?), you've got a really great tournament. Sorta like...nationals. Someone should do an invitational 6gg.

Great idea....anyone with field contacts should start to arrange.

94 Batbusters
94 Tx Elite
Fusion Sidwell
94 Glory
94 Glory (Elliott)
95 Glory
95 Travelers
Texas Rapid Fire (schroeder)
93 Tx Travelers (Splash)
American Freedom

Now that's an A+++ tournament in North Texas!!!!
