Hall of Fame Format..... what do you think?

by play4fun » Tue Apr 29, 2008 7:22 pm

This information is on the VTD

Format: Due to the overwhelming number of entries we will cancel the pool game, however teams only playing two games will receive a $25 refund. Bracket play is a double elimination bracket. Bracket games 7 inning or 90 minutes. Teams

As of right now, 14U - 43 teams and 12U - 22 teams.

Do you think not having a pool game might hurt some teams? This is a long way to travel for some teams to only play 2 games.

By the way:

Tournament cost $325.00
With a $25.00 refund that would make each game worth $150.00 if you lose two and go home.
Wow!!!! This must be a great tournament!!!!

Oklahoma is alot closer to us than ya'll (3-4 hours for most). HOF is a great tournament to get a chance to see some top competition. I'm sure that California would come out in forces if ya'll were closer to try and gain a bid to nationals.

"Teams will ONLY be approved upon receipt of Money Order or Cashiers Check for the entry fee (includes a team gate fee). NO PERSONAL CHECKS"

Just about all of our tournaments have this as a requirement.

Good Luck!!! If my predictions are right then you will hopefully get to see 95 Travelers and 95 Glory. Last year I think Texas sent 5 to help fill in spots so maybe you will get to see Round Rock Blaze(I think they went to 12U nationals last year), Spring Sting, and ???

Hall of Fame Format? What about Location?

Having 2 age groups 12/14s all at one location! Then having the pool game dropped, sounds like a $.$$ thing to me. I wonder why these two tournaments weren't split up and held at separate facilities to accomodate all the teams in each group. Gateway certainly does not have the facilities to "warm-up" for teams prior to each game, especially with over 60 teams combined. I know Southlake has 6 fields and enough room to accomodate everyone! And theres other facilities for the other group too ie Keller / Hurst / even McKinney or Allen ! Looks like a bad promoter got real greedy, instead of accomodating the paying customers again!

Hopefully a true 'Blind' draw for team vs team will occur! Playing dates / times / opponents could become a big factor!

Obviously another Gotcher hater. Have you seen the warm up area at Gateway??

All 6 fields have temp fences, allowing for warmup on all 6 fields behind those fences, plus all of the area between 2 sets of top fields, plus area behind 2 of the top fields(perm. fences), and if that isn't enough, there are a couple hundred acres AT LEAST throughout Gateway Park..so what if it isn't right by the fields...walk a little you lazy person!! lol

Lori - No I have not seen Gateway since FTW Metro's in 2006. So are you announcing that FTW has updated Gateway Parks Facilities? That'll be a good thing! And plenty of room for teams to warm up in the outfield beyond a temp fence, will be great. Can't wait to see all the outfielders calling time to chase the errant ball that was hit or thrown past the 4ft. temp fencing by a warming up team!
Now if they'd just open up the beer concession, instead of having to walk all the way back, I could be even lazier! :P
As for a Gotcher hater? Naw - he put himself out there as a TD, so he gets blasted just like all the others going for the $.$$! Plus, since he determines FTW tournament placements by being a JO, he deserves most of the credit for playing 60+ teams in one facility. And I've stated my opinon on # of teams playing at facilities plenty of times, so I won't get on that box yet.
Should be a few good games to watch that weekend though.

I have to agree with Lori on this one . . . plenty of warm up areas out in the park for those midnight start times, so stop your complaining. Besides, you really don't want to be caught in one of the afternoon dust storms anyway by warming up right next to the fields. And I really don't want to hear about your parents and players inability to properly schedule bathroom breaks. If they can't get in line immediately after their last game so they can be ready to play two hours later, you never should have taken them on your team. Seriously, Lori is dead on on this one.

I must say the 2 game guarantee for $325 is not good marketing tool. It a good thing this is the HOF.
I would rather see the 12s and 14s at different fields and at least one pool or 3E bracket and limit the win at midnight back at 8 am and championship at 10 pm Sunday. I know this happens every wekend but it does keep many teams from traveling North, South, East and West. I think this is the reason so many teams play up instead of traveling to play better/differnt teams in their own age group.

Again this is the HOF and many will make the trip and there will some great softball played. Good luck to everyone.
