Holiday Camps

by amazing » Wed Dec 22, 2010 10:21 am

I noticed there a quite a few college and organizational camps going on right now. U of Washinton, D Bats, etc.
Which ones are worth attending?
What can a player/parent expect from these camps?
What is the purpose of these camps?

First of all - DBat camp is without a doubt worth your money - especially this year as it appears the weather will allow for the camp to be outdoors.

Ones that are worth attending - any of them that are hosting a camp of a school your daughter is interested in. If a school you have a high interest level in is coming to the area two or three times go to all of them!

Purpose - the purpose of the camps is to allow your player to get to work with college coaches who they might not get to see or attend a camp with. For example - University of Washington - how many times can you play or work out in front of the 2009 NCAA National Champions. It's not like it is an easy or cheap experience to go to Washington to one of their on campus camps.

What to expect - for the most part the college coaches are all willing to work with every kid regardless of skill level or interest in them coming to their program. Remember - most of these coaches are not paid big money like football coaches - they have a passion for the game and like to teach it. We tell kids all the time - if you can get one thing out of a camp like this that will help your game then its worth the time and money.
